My wife has lost her Cedula, is there any way to get one quick

She is already in the process of receiving her passport and most likely her visa interview will be in a month? What can we do?

This is a good question. I have a friend whose girl is receiving her visa on the 10 of may and she has lost her cedula. She already has her passport. Can she receive her visa without the cedula or with the replacement cedula?

I've heard from Colombian friends that it can take a year or more to get the replacement. That's bizarre considering that in Colombia you can get your passport in a day.

I have also that i can take a year to get another one unless you go to Bogota and file for it. I heard in Bogota it can take 2 weeks. WE were attempting to find out if the lost cedula could possibly cause problems in the Embassy with receiving the visa.

Mr Holloywood... heard right. Took Mrs. Gator eight months to get her replacement. If she made a police report get a copy-if she has a bank account see if they have their copy-they always make one. the notary where you got married or filed the copy of the marriage certificate may also have a copy.

It depends... If it is first time, yes it does take for ever. Mine took a little bit than a year. My moms cedula got lost and her replacement took 7 months. I think every case is different. She should start doing the process of getting a replacement ASAP.
Good Luck!!

Do you have to show your cedula to immigration in order to leave Colombia?

Why, Kat, were you planning on making a move on him?

the cedula takes a lot, but the contraseña (temp Cedula) takes only a day... i'm almost sure you can leave the country with a contraseña and the police report saying you lost your cedula...

More like "quick is not a word in the language of Colombian paperwork" in general.

I've suffered through proportionally equal waiting times even when dealing with different people and entities, unrelated to the government per se. Not always, but more than once or twice, yes.

I have received quick service in Colombia from various entities including getting passports, driver's licenses, utility repair, postal service and notarios. I have also received efficient, friendly, service with a smile from non-governmental entities such as banks, universities, and restaurants.

A blanket condemnation of Colombia as slow and inefficient is not warranted... although I realize efficient service is by no means universal.
