My trip to Chiclayo and I am now a Novio..

Hello everyone ,

I have not posted in a while and I have jumped in and read the forum a few times.. Sorry I have not posted I have been very busy..

My trip was fantastic , supurb , wow , great , wonderful..

I am now engaged and my girlfriend is now my Novia and we are getting married sometime between August to October..

We are starting the pre- marriage counceling by webcam and voice chat soon.. This will be fun and interesting..

As a little background info.. I am 46 and my Novia is 32.. I have been a widower and a single father for 46 months.. I have a girl that is 11 and a boy that is 8 years old..

My Novia and I have been chatting , emailing , msn voice chat and webcaming for over 3 years.. She actually kicked me to the curb romantically 3 yrs ago since she felt I had to go through my full grieving process first for my late wife.. I did not like what she said at the time but she was right..

I send a shout to kat1 who has been a darling over the years to me and very encouraging.. I did not find a Novia from Colombia but they certainly inspired me..

This site helped me through my grieving process and to have a souding board many times.. I know Desi , kat1 , yes Elmo also , what the heck is his name .. the lawyer from Chicago,, ah yes Gomezman5 I believe , Gator.. and many others that escape me right now were an immense help..

You all really helped me when I was in such immense pain from the loss of my wife.. God Bless you all...

In all the time I kept by eyes open for a potential wife my priorities was finding a woman with a big heart , sweet , sincere , smart and loving.. Of course we had to have the mutual chemistry and that was there.. A big one was a woman that would take a big interest in my kids..

The other day my Novia said to me that we will have to wait having 1 child together after we marry since our children ( she already calls them her kids) will need all her attention and love when she gets to Canada since they have not had a Mom for a long time..

My Novia and I have been chatting , voice chat , webcam , talking on the phone and emailing since about Jan/05.. Yes I got engaged on my first trip..

Chiclayo , Peru is about 500 km's north of Lima on the Pacific coast..The city has a population of about 550,000 people..The city is quite clean..

Again I thank the thoughtful people that post here.. Reading stories about the culture , languange , family and life really inspired me..

I am in the Lima airport.. I will meet my girl in 2.5 hours in Chiclayo..

Hey guys,

Hello at 3 am in the morning from Lima airport ,I am so pumped and excited because I will meet my girl very soon.. The airport here and the people here are very friendly and nice so far.. The airport is like brand new and very very clean. I leave for Chiclayo on the 4.25 am flight and will be there for 5.50 am.. There are tons of restaurants here..

I am quite tired since I did not sleep much the night before but I got a good 4 hour power nap on the plane.. My flight got in at 12.30 am so it is a all nighter here..

Guys they have some muy bonita women working here at the airport.. Some thing that may interest some guys at the airport here they rent cell phones for $10 for up to 30 days use with no roaming charge anywhere in Peru for about .24 cents a minute for all incoming and domestic outgoing calls..

I talked to my girl from New York just before my plane took off , she is really excited and very nervous to meet me.. I will be meeting my girl and her whole family very soon at the Chiclayo airport.. Wow , another page is about to unfold in my life and I am looking forward to the future..

I will find out soon if this is all real or memorex when I get to Chiclayo.

I am not responsible for there rambling or spelling since I am half asleep.. lol

I am going to try to keep posting daily here but if you don`t here from me for a few days that is because I am having too much fun..

Talking to people on my flight in I am told Peru economy is really growing fast at a rate of 8% growth a year..

Now where is that bar I mean the coffee bar..lol

A quick update,

I am no longer single, I am taken.. wow wow I can't put it in words.. The meeting at the airport was overwhelming.. Talk about hugs and kisses.. wow.

Her family is great and very friendly.. My girlfriend is wonderful and sweet.. She and her family wont let me pay for a thing.. I am totally smitten and will have further news soon about our relationship.. tomorrow I will have been here 3 days..

wow wow Reading about latinas all these years did not prepare me for her warmth , kisses , hugs , her radiant smile and her great heart.. We are both totally smitten with each other.. I am a loss for words right now.. As I am writing this my girlfriend is going to pick me up soon to go dancing with her..

The food here is simply fantastic and cheap.. The people are very friendly and nice..

I understand now where other guys with Peruvian wives are kind of protective of the women here.. There are not many north americans here is chiclayo and the women are muy bonita..

Hola mi amigos,

Well the first thing I have to say.. These Pisco sours are a great drink , try one if you have not yet.. I am feeling no pain as I write this..

michaelb no wedding bells on this trip that would be really rushing things.. I am though proposing tomorrow with a beautiful ring I brought from Canada.. If I did not get the right vibes and chemistry that I see and feel both of us feel.. I understand now UTC when he said he would marry his wife at the airport when they met..

Chris f I thank you for your concern but I have known my future Novia for over 3 years.. She kicked me to the curb romantically after we started chatting since she felt I needed time to heal from my grief and we were just friends for a long time. If she wanted to take advantage of me she could have done that easily 3 years ago.

We are also going to take pre marriage councelling and we are looking into the marriage builders course.. Tomorrow night we go to her Christian church.. I still have to get her parents approval first before I can formally ask her to marry me in front of her parents. I am meeting with her parents tomorrow at their house at 5 pm with my girlfriend's friend to translate..

Monday Update from Peru and I got sick,

Monday Update from Peru

Well my Novia parents gave their permission to me for asking their daughter to be my wife.. They wanted to know that I would love and respect her and not ever hit her. I told them that in Canada women’s rights are protected and a man will go to Jail for hitting his wife. I told them I had no respect for any man that abused his wife.. Her mother told me that is what she wanted to hear.

My Novia has never had a serious relationship before or been in love.. I respect that and it is not a problem for me. Chiclayo is a very conservative city and the people are very friendly and outgoing...

I have been feeling under the weather for a few days and I started coughing yesterday and I got a little fever. After we got engaged she insisted on taking me to the doctor at a private clinic. Well she was like a mother tiger with the staff and I got into to see the doctor within 5 minutes even though their was other people waiting.. That did and still does bother me that we skipped the queue but my Novia would here nothing about waiting around to be seen.

I got put on antibiotics and advil for my fever and she got the english speaking doctor personal cell phone number so she could contact him anytime if I got worse. Medical care is very cheap by our standards. A half hour examination by the doctor was 60
soles or about 21 usa dollars and the prescription was 40 soles.

So my Novia takes me back to my hotel and makes me strip to my boxers and puts me in bed after she made sure I took all my meds. She called her parents and told them that she was worried about me and did not want to leave me in my room by myself all night in case I got more sick. Her Parents were already a step ahead of her and had thought about that already and had arranged for her brother to sleep in the room with me so that my Novia could stay all night as well and look after me.

The gran hotel here in Chiclayo is very good with great service and they arranged for another bed to be brought in right away. Since I was sick and it was a matter of honour that her brother had to stay with us they said there would be no extra charge.

So here I am laying in bed in my boxers with a wet towel on my head that my Novia Keeps re wetting every little while and their is a knock on the door. Her Mother , Sister and brother were all there to check on me.I was lectured not to drink anymore cold drinks and had to promise I would not have any till I got better. Her brother took my temperture under my arm and they all joked that maybe he should take me in the washroom and get me to bend over and check my temperature that way. I said no way and they all laughed and said they were joking(broma).

Her mother and sister stayed till midnight and it was like having 3 nurses. My novia ordered me something to eat and insisted on feeding me herself. I told her I could feed myself but she would not hear of it. She has made sure I eat good and drink a lot
of water. Her mother gave her instructions to put something on me but I could not understand what she said. Her mother and sister left and my novia gave me my meds and I went back to sleep. I woke up every hour or so and she was always awake by side with a wet towel on my forehead.

This morning I stink.. During the night well I slept she put some kind of salve under my nose and all across my chest.. It smells a little like vicks vapo rub but my sense of smell is not to good. at 7 am this morning she had to leave since her brother had to go to work. She’ had dark circles under her eyes and had not slept and a couple of times during the night I had to console that I would be alright since I awoke to her crying.

At 9 am my Novia called me and woke me up and told me to take my antibiotics and Advil and to go down and have breakfast and then go back to bed. I had a good breakfastand then went back for a nap.. The house maids came to my room around 11 am and I decided to go down and check my email..

Well my Novia is here now waiting for me in the lobby so I have to run.. She is now here with me in the business center and it is back to bed for me she says..

My fever is nothing really only 38 c but they take a fever here very seriously.The flem in my throat and chest is what bothers me more.

Hello,

Well I am feeling a little better today other my chest hurting from coughing.. My Novia was quite annoyed with me that I did not call her in the middle of the night when my chest bothered me a little. Her look could have melted an iceberg and she has made it clear that she is the boss now when it comes to my health.. She was only mad for a few minutes then it was a million kisses and hugs.. Actually even when she was mad at me she gave me kisses.

She has arranged for the english speaking Doctor to come check me out in a half an hour here at the hotel. She did not ask me she just told me.. ..

My Novia will hardly let me spend much , she pays her own taxi fare and has paid for 1 dinner and 1 lunch so far for us..she said she must help since I spent alot to get here to see her.. Man can she make money go far and is very cost concious.. She has inspected every thing before I eat it and has sent food away if it has mayo , not cooked well enough or has something that might make sick... She researched on what I should and should not eat. Have I mentioned yet that food here is fantastic
and these chefs could make a fortune in North America.

I am in the business center well they are cleaning the room.. Chiclayo is a very new city and is only 160 years old.. It is a business city I am told and I like it so far. A 15 minute cab ride from my hotel is the Lord Sipan museam. The Lord Sipan tombs are the top archeological find since King Tut. They are 1 hour away from here.

She is very very affectionate and is glued to me all the time when we are together.. Man she is wonderful and sweet.. I was very surprised that she has a visa credit card , I guess Visa is making inroads here.

Well I have to run and I will keep updating when I can.. In regards to a poster{s question in another thread about Peruvian women.. I am very impressed with them and there are many beauties here but they seem shy and are not aggressive going after a man it seems..

Update,

The doctor says I am fine the infection is just in my larynx (throat). The antibiotics will kick in soon and my lungs are completely clear. He got me some decongestant and told me to keep taking advil. The people are friendly here and the doctor was great. He would hardly take anything for the house call and the half hour of his time on his off day..

What is it about cold things here in Peru when you are sick in reminds me of my grandmother telling me to not sit on the cold cement.. Until I am better she told me my air conditioning is off.. Thankfully there is a nice tropical breeze.. She says I can't drink anything cold.. Everything is singular( warm)..

I went to my Novia work today to meet all her co-workers and boss.. She has some very bonita friends and they all told me I got the best woman in Peru and she has a good heart.. A couple of them told me half jokingly they will strangle me if I hurt her heart. I can tell she is held in high esteem by her co workers and friends.. A few of them asked shyly if I had any single friends who are a good men..

We are going out to dinner with her parents tonight at a restaurant that makes great steaks.. I am treating since they took me out to dinner on Friday night for dinner.. My Novia and her family are very close and they love each other very much. I really respect her father and family.

Last night she went back home around 10.15 pm and she called me as soon as she was home.. I told her to get some rest since the night before she did not get any sleep hardly.. I told her to tell her father that I told her to go right to bed and catch up on her sleep.. She told her father what I said and blew me many kisses over the phone and many te amo's and we said good night.. Well today she told me she wanted to stay up and talk about her day but her father said your Novio said get some sleep and I agree with him, so go to bed...

We are going go do some shopping after for some other clothes for me.. Man o man are the taxi's cheap here for a 10 minute taxi ride it only costs a buck. If I am reading the signs right gas here is very cheap.. It looks like .14 cents a litre for gas or for you american guys about .65 cents a gallon. postscript : I was reading the signs wrong and still don't know the price of gas.

I highly recommend the hotel I am staying at "the Gran Hotel" . The service is great and the food is wonderful.. Peru economy is really growing fast and everyone wants my opinion of their country. They are very proud people and very proud of their city..

The people are really torn about Fugimoro since he did so much for their country outside of Lima by building hospitals , schools and medical care and crushing the shining path and some crime.. On the other hand if he is guilty of what they alledge then that is a big problem they say and will have to pay for it..

Short update from Peru..

I am feeling much better thanks to my great nurse.. We are enjoying our time together and I am head over heels in love with my Novia.. She loves me very much and tells me that 50 times a day and shows it... I don´t think my lips and mouth , tongue will ever get back any feeling.. There are numb from all her kisses.. broma..

Until you have felt the love and attention of a Latina you have not lived I think.. I am in awe of her attention and love for me.. Cuts up my food because I am still sick she says, wants to feed me always , looks after me , I had a sore back so she gave me a back massage for 30 minutes.. She has it down to the minute when I have to take my medicine..

Everthing is about me not about her.. She puts me first in everything..

I am in love with a great woman..

I learned something very important Thursday.

The subject came up about my Novia walking home at night from her English class.. I told her she should take a taxi home for security and ir would cost about 3 soles or 1.03 american each night.. She said that would be a waste of money since she could walk.. I offered to help since she is my Novia , I love her and she is my future wife..

Well I just about got my face ripped off from her look and she was mad at me. Well I stepped in a manure pile there and that was a mistake to bring it up.. She said that it would not be proper for her to accept one cent from me till we are married.. She is very frugal and does not a fancy wedding and wants to save as much money as possible on it.. She will not even let me help with the cost of gathering documents that she needs to get married.. She told me all she wants is my love , be faithful to her and my sincerety towards her.

I met a some of her very good friends last night when we went out to dinner.. Guys there are some very great women here who are beautiful and very sweet looking for a good husband..

I met the sweetest beautiful young lady last sat(about 19-21) with My Novia where we go every day.. This girl was swooning over my novia luck again today at meeting a Canadian man who will treat her good.. She was saying please do you have a man that is good for me , that would be a dream to get married with a nice man.. You could see the stars in her eyes that she was dreaming of a wedding dress.. It is too bad that a lot of Peruvian men cannot afford to get married here in Chiclayo..

Our time is short and we are trying to make the most of every minute. Her parents have given her permission to stay at the hotel with me Friday and Saturday night.. I leave the hotel at 6 am Sunday morning. Friday night her sister is her chaperone and Sat night her brother is her chaperone in the hotel room. Man it is going to be hard and heart breaking to leave my Novia..

She has a million watt smile and is always so happy. She is very very passionate and affectionate..She loves to laugh and is so sweet.. She has nursed me back to health and watches me like a hawk for any sniffle.. I swear if I sneeze again she will have the doctor back in looking me over.. Forget trying to argue with her over anything health related , I dont have a hope there.

Guys if you ever need a collagen shot for your lips done get the needle shot just get a Peruana girlfriend, or as Henry Fonda said in that movie on Goldern pond.. What is suck face.. .. When the doors had that song come on baby light my fire they must have singing about Latinas..lol

well good night from chiclayo.. I dont think you will hear too much from me till I get back to Canada or get to Lima.. excuse my spelling but I am too tired to check it..
