My next trip, San Andrés. I'm looking for suggestions from this list of likely packages...

AeroRepública offers these hotels in their tour-packages of 4 nights and 3 days. Suggestions? Advise?

Los Delfines
Bahía Sardina Torre
On Vacation Galaxia
On Vacation Caribbean
Apartahotel Las Américas
Bahia Sardina Torre
Tiuna
Verdemar Torre
Bahía Sardina Torre
Cocoplum Beach

I don't think on my own, I could beat these package prices simply flying and then fending for myself on the island, so the only thing left is a hotel; with "Isle" flavor; comfy; local environemnt.

What I really want was to go to Providencia, but looks like these packages are almost obligatory.

(I posted this in Español also)

don't know them but i just got back from a week in San Andres. I had a great time staying at the Decammeron Aquarium. It's all inclusive with free booze all day and night...mmmmmm. If going with a girl would highly recommend this place...nice rooms, good food..but if going by yourself would look elsewhere.

brad216's Decammeron and Adela's concern... Thanks. I'm going with my bogotana-girl. Did you fly from Bogotá, and if so which airline?
Did you go on one of those 3day/4nite package deals?
Or did you just fly there and find a hotel...

Adela seems to have doubts about Aerorepublica. Their Website won't tell you what days they fly to SA; It just prompts you to "Try another date", and I didn't feel like playing a guess-when game.

Does anyone know what days Aerorepublica flies to San Andres?

Thanks in advance for any answer.

If you want send me a PM.

neonovo the oldgringo has found that his best arrangements
have been made on the ground. and definately in providence.

the cocoplum is nice, between town and san luis.

aerorepublica flies three times a week.
the advantage the tour companies have is in securing seats on the providence itinerary, thats always harder.they also can tailor
a complete itinerary for both islands.if you go to providence,
you will likely stay in freshwater bay, most cabanas are there.

eat rondon...

I stayed at Hotel Arena Blanca, it is OK and new but I have nothing on the island to compare it with. It is all inclusive including drinks, food and entertainment. The dinner show was quite good, similar to what you might find on a cruise ship.

AeroRepublica is a nice airline, I have not had any problems in the few times I have flown with them.

neonovo I flew from Cali to Bogota to San Andres on Avianca. I made the hotel reservations on Travelocity and called Avianca. Since it's roundtrip from Bog to San Andres, they'll give you price in pesos which is good. I went over holidays so i think prices should have dropped a little bit. The prices are not bad compared to other Carribean islands and if you like to drink..you'll enjoy not having to pay for drinks for a few days. Good Luck and enjoy.

Best deal seems to be AR's Las Americas PAM pack. Pais29, OG, kernow62; Thanks you all for great info. Brad216, I checked flying in on our own, but Avianca's chapest fare is 544k Col., (others, over 1 Mill) which compared to the Las Americas PAM pakcage of 688k means I have 140k to find likely accomodations (4/3 for 2). So from the gathered evidence, AeroRepública's (Adela, keep your fingers crossed) package seems to be the best deal.

The only drawback is not inlcuding a hope-over to Providence, which is optional, but would be nice...

OG, did I see you post something about a sail-boat in Providence?

My wife and I went on a package through Aerorepublica from Bogota to San Andres. We stayed at the Decameron Marazul. I had no complaints but then again, if I am in my wife's company, nothing else matters to me.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

decameron Brad212 is right. I've stayed at Decameron hotels in San Andres and Cargegena and never had a bad time. In San Andres the Aquarium is the best of the lot.

However, don't stay at any Decameron hotel if you are trying to meet women. Only people staying in the hotel are allowed on the grounds.

Apartahotel las americas San Andres When my novia and I have our honeymoon in July we are going to go to San Andres. She got a good quote on the Apartahotel las Americas, does anyone know about this hotel? Also she got a quote on a hotel galaxia, any thoughts on this one? We were also looking at Noblehouse and Decamerons.

Thanks,

Aaron.
