Well, much to the surprise of my acquaintances, I survived one month in Colombia. I swear, they had a pool going around betting on how many days it would be before I got killed.
During my time in Colombia, I rode horses twice and chased down a horse that got away from another rider. That was a blast!!! They all assumed I knew how to ride because I am from Texas. I'm no cowboy but I can handle a horse.
Later, I repelled down 3 waterfalls on a 3 hour tour. That was my first experience at repelling and it was even more interesting as the guide gave the instructions in Spanish. Of course, I only know about 10% of Spanish but I watched one or two others go and figured it out.
Another highlight was riding on the bumper of a Jeep Willys on the way up the mountain. My Colombiana friend was sitting on the luggage rack on top of the Jeep. I was holding on with one hand and filming the scenery with the camera in the other hand.
I now need to definitely learn Spanish between now and Christmas, as I plan on returning to vacation with my Colombiana in Santa Marta.
I want to thank all of you regulars who answered so many questions for me and gave me the confidence to visit Colombia.

And maybe you can help your friends understand that it is not as scary as they make it sound on the news... I've always learned that reporters aim for the scare tactic when telling a story about Colombia.... Which in turn gives it a bad reputation.... Good for you... And from one of your previous posts.. You spent some time in my home town... Pereira.... How was it there... I know there's a lot of bars, but an easy trip up to the cafeterias....
