I am planning to take my 'maybe future' girlfriend (whom I met while I was in Cali) to visit UK in the summer if we get on very well each other.
What sort of rules will she be able to travel to UK? VISA, in what? How does it work? Will they accept?
Any help will be grateful

Morrongo says on Feb 22, 2008, 17:11: As ujays says, not a hope in hell, unless she has good paying job and money in her account.Children and house owner help, but unless she can support herself they will not entertain a visa, even if you write a letter of invitation and offer to pay everything.Somebody in the UK told me that a new 1,000 bond rule can apply for border cases......not sure about that..perhaps somebody has more info

jonas says on Feb 22, 2008, 17:16: one advice: the worst thing she could possibly say at the embassy is that she is going to visit her novio. This tells the embassy that she has the least motivation to return to Colombia. So you would have to find some other reason for the letter of invitation. just my 2 pence What I have, I do not want to lose, but Where I am I do not want to stay, but those I love, I do not want to leave, but those I know I no longer want to see, but Where I die, I do not want to go;I want to stay where I have never been 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Robert Jorge says on Feb 22, 2008, 19:25: I know you are talking about GB and not the US: but if GB is anything like the US - as far as immigration - NEVER, I repeat, NEVER lie to them. You will be found out and your "maybe" sort of girlfriend will probably be banned from ever entering. I am not disagreeing with Jonas; admitting to having a love interest lowers the odds considerably for a visa: but lying about having a special friend, love interest will only get the girl banned from entry ... ever. --"I believe in making the world safe for our children. Cerealkiller says on Feb 23, 2008, 06:45: jumbo your gf must have a job or own a house or be enrolled at university and have money in her bank account. In addition, she will probably need a US visa or a Shengen one as there are no direct flights to the UK and she will have to do immigration while connecting. JumboBond007 says on Feb 23, 2008, 08:27: Not necessary to go to UK via USA. There is a Madrid route as well with Iberia.

Cerealkiller says on Feb 23, 2008, 09:33: well then go for the schengen transit visa. She will need a transit visa no matter what. In regards to the job, as long as her employer says she is going for holidays and will have her job once she returns, all is good. guacharaca says on Feb 23, 2008, 12:39: jajaja! What is the difference between 'maybe future' girlfriend and "girlfriend"? Are there commitment issues here? Don't bother bringing her to the UK until after marriage. Spend your money visiting her in Colombia until you know her real character. curramberochris says on Feb 25, 2008, 06:06: My girlfriend has been given the UK visa a few times but the requirements are pretty stringent. A couple of sponsors in Colombia, about 6 months of bank statements from Colombia, a good enough reason to return to Colombia, a letter of invitation from the Uk.

If your Colombian girlfriend has a good job in Colombia she probable has no issues of getting a visa, if not it will involve a sponsering from your side. ronald@donders.co.uk 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
