My first trip to Bogota.

Hi everyone!
I just came back from a week visit to Bogota. What a pleasant surprise! I must admit I was a little hesitant to travel to Colombia. You know the usual stuff "kidnappings and guerillas! Wow! Bogota is a wonderful city, like any big city in the world! and the biggest surprise: "the people" I have travelled around the world, and I thought the Thai people were the most friendly on earth, but I have to say the Colombians are the winners. I had wonderful food at DiLucca rest, Amarti in Usaquen, Club Colombia....walked around Parque 93 and went for lunch at Accento Lounge. Visit the Gold Museum, it was amazing! also, visit the Botero Musuem, Monserrate, Zipaquira to see the church, La Calera was like the German countryside! I loved the mountains, the parks, and the spirit of the people. I'am planning another trip to Colombia this year, and I'am thinking of Cartagena. Can't wait!!!

My first trip to Bogota Hi everyone! We stayed at the Radisson Hotel. It was nice, but had a few complaints. Next time I'll stay at The Fontana Hotel, heard good reviews! Great shopping in Andino Mall, and also at El Retiro. Wonderful weather, nice and cool.

I think it was by the Unicentro Mall and Andino by the zona rosa...both in the north.

Bogota Hi you all! Can anybody tell me any similarities between Europe (any country) and Bogota? For example: I found La Candelaria similar to Bari or Barletta in Italy. The tax and tipping system like in Germany. The bookstores in Bogota, like the ones in Munich, Berlin, or London. The variety of cold cuts and cheeses like in Frankfurt, Rome, or Madrid. I'am only focusing on the positive things...can anyone think of anything else?

I'm very happy to hear that As a Colombian, I'm very happy you liked my country. You can't believe everything you read. The problem with the American media is they only talk about the bad things. They give people a very wrong idea or what the country is like. You need to go there to really know the country and its people.

There's many more cities and towns. Bogotá is very 'international' so to speak. If you travel to other cities you'll see the real Colombia and you'll love it. By the way, you'll love Cartagena too.

I feel very proud when people speak about my country the way you did. People in the US and in other countries around the world seem to believe all Colombians are drug dealers and guerrillas. Now you know it's not true and I'm glad.

Thanks a lot.
