My Colombian Wife is Pregnant...

and still in Colombia. We were married on Marcb 12th in Colombia and I received NOA1 on the 25th, so I am in progress to receive a visa for her. Does anyone know if it is possible to expedite her visa since she is pregant? I believe it is possible to expedite a spousal visa for a medical and family emergency.

Yes, but... be prepaired to offer lots make that LOTS of concrete evidence. In most places being pregant is NOT a medical emergency.

BUT, since YOU are a citizen be sure and file a Consular Report of Birth Abroad. This is a document, issued by an American embassy or consulate, reflects the facts of a birth abroad of a child who acquiring U.S. citizenship at birth through one or both parents being US Citizens at the time of the child's birth. This record, also known as an FS-240, along with the Certification of Birth, DS-1350, are acceptable as proof of birth and U.S. citizenship for all legal purposes. These documents may only be issued at the time of the birth with the US Embassy in Bogotá. If the baby is brought to the USA without doing this it becomes much more difficult and expensive.

If allgoes well no visa needed for the child. The baby is entitled to a US passport issued by the embassy.

There is a lot of paper work involved-birth cirtificate, marriage license, proof that you resided in the US for a certain period of time. The Embassy can fill you in on what you need.

Sit tight for now........ What kind of visa did you apply for? Spousal or Fiance? I would just wait and see when the interview is? My wife was in the same situation but it took only three and a half monthss to get her the Fiance Visa and to enter the USA. So you have 9 months to wait more or less. Just wait and see for a few months? Make sure she visits the Doctor and buy her Prenatal Vitamins and Calcium supplements, MUCH CHEAPER to buy them in the US and bring them down there!!!

It really counts on which service center you are using but you are not going to get a expedite for your wife being pregant. Immigrations could care less about anyone or their problems. I do suggest that if you file your own papers make sure you have a check list put together and send everything you possibly to prove your petition. Good Luck

bbattiste pregnancy in and of itself does not constitute a medical emergency. women get impregnated and birth children all over the world all the time. what is the nature of the medical emergency.
