Must see and must do suggestions for Medellin?

Hello all,

I will be Medellin in November. I would appreciate suggestions on what I must see and must do in Medellin? The more details the better for a memorable trip. I'm a single male in my late 30's and my focus will be on relaxing and partying. I've been to Colombia before, but this is my first time in Medellin. Thanks for your input!

Take the tour tram around the city for a good feel of it and even ride all the metro lines to really appreciate the haves/have nots. Then back to hotel and back out to Lleras or Mangos, Palmahilla etc. at night. Then if you get really bored can always go visit the Medellin Mansion (jajajajaja).

get down, get down. are you afraid of the boogie monster?

*Vist theMuseo de Antioquia and Botero Sculpture Park
*Ride the Metro and MetroCable up to the new library in SAnto Domingo
*Visit the Botanical Gardens and the new Explora Museum across the street
*Stroll along the "golden mile" on El Pobaldo Ave
* Visit beautiful nearby towns, such as El Retiro, La Ceja, etc. The mountain scenery is absolutely spectacular and not-to--be-missed

Mangos is the best night club I've ever been to but also the most expensive I've ever been to. If you like to drink and party with girls plan at the very least 400.000 cop just for mangos. Mangos=way over priced alcohol.

Maybe also check out "El hueco"
pueblito paisa
Tutcan in rio negro is a better version of pueblito paisa.
Estadio. ave. 70 has lots of bars and small discos and cheaper hotels.

Indeed, be careful, and respectful, with midgets. I know midgets in Medellin that can kick your head up your ass, and much worse. You don't have to be tall to cut off someone's balls.

What is the tour tram? Is it a bus or metro with a guide? I've never heard of this.

leo...here's a post i shared with someone else:
plenty of time to get to know the city and it's surrounds? i don't know if i could even remotely agree with that. i be checkin it out for 19 years and there's still many a surprise around the corner. sure, one can have a couple or exciting fun filled weeks seeing the area, but don't plan on 'knowing' the area. just be certain it will whet your appetite and you'll want to return again and again...you might not even want to leave.

up country from medellin in llano grande, you can fill days/weeks just enjoying the endless splendor of the area. from la ceja to el carmen de viboral, san antonio, tablaso, maranilla, et, al. tutucan, mentioned above, is at the south end of llano grande where you turn into rio negro and san antonio. just before you get to tutucan, maybe 4-500yards, is a centro comercio, gualanday....you can spend many a day and evening just hanging out here..the locals are true-blue colombians, not butt holes and rip-offs. everyone there is trustworthy and knows me for many many years. our finca is about 4 miles from there, back towards don diego.
if you drive back up the hill towards the glorietta in front of the airport, go around the glorietta and start back around, and on your right before the estadero at the turn back down to llano grande, is a stable where you can go horse back riding. these people are like our family members. dona ema, her daughters, alexandra, carmenza, and lucy. i used to live on thisfinca. have carmenza take you for a day horse back ride. great folks. you can e me at:dwmte7 at yahoo.com and i can share tons of particulars not available in tour guides. i love my country and hope that all nice tourists go away with their hearts full and dying to come back, and tell other's the truth about colombia and her gente.

"Visit the Botanical Gardens" - jelsaad

NO! There is nothing to see during all the constuction at the moment. It would be a waste of time.

1.Santa Fe de Antioquia

2.El Publito de Venecia

3.Pharmacy - Disco. This is the HOTTEST club in Medellin on Sunday nights!! You will not find another club that is this packed on Sundays. It has two floors, both crowded with couples dancing all night long. It opens at about 9:00pm until 4:00 am. You will be better off going with a local, because you will not see another gringo in the club. $5 cover charge. Also, not too many people know about this place. It's on the downlow.

4.El Parque de Las Aguas. This waterpark is located about two hours outside of Medellin. The drive there is a great experience in itself. I would suggest going on a Saturday when there would probably more locals enjoying the weekend. A great way to relax in the sun.

5.Paragliding - Andres Gallego (cel) 312 764 4328 (landline) 388 0336

6.Juan Manual Uribe - A great driver, for airport pickup/drop off, as well as a great tour guide who speak Fluent English. He knows many great places to take you! Just tell him "Medellin Traveler" sent you.

Hope this helps.
