Venezuela has recalled its ambassador to Colombia over the capture of Rodrigo Granda in Caracas and is claiming a violation of their sovereignty. What a bunch of BS. Wasn’t it Senior Presidente Chavez who swore to the Holy Mother that he would never aid the FARC or give them sanctuary? He was walking around Caracas and Chavez knew he was there; they were monitoring his cell phone. If Chavez isn’t protecting these bums why didn’t he have Granda arrested? Isn't he a known Terrorist? Fair question!

juancegomez says on Jan 13, 2005, 17:33: It's a bit more complicated than that... Because, even if we do take into consideration that possible background (which is still up in the air...there's evidence of some degree of support from some individuals but not of the Chavez gov't per se and in a widespread manner), the fact is that Mr. Granda was not captured in the best possible manner but rather in a relatively clumsy way which, understandably, angers many Venezuelans, whether they support the FARC or are simply nationalists (two non-exclusive attributes but not necessarily linked either).

Miguel says on Jan 14, 2005, 15:25: Also... Cuba and Panama had a little rift not long ago over Panama supposedly harboring several Cubans who were plotting against Fidel, and a similar recall of ambassadors took place. You guys notice a late thread today (1.14) about this "just happening"?. Sort of stale news by now, and I could not figure out why neither the Colombian or Venezuelan press hardly covered it; the front page on EL TIEMPO on line last night was about the Sub 20 futbol tourney! And it is hardly breaking news that governments pay to catch bad guys, although this one didn't go too smoothly.
