i am thinking about moving to colombia in may to seek employment. i was wondering about what i might need to do beforehand in order to move there. i was looking at the work visa requirements but it appears that an employment contract would be necessary prior to applying, which i doubt i will have. if anyone has any ideas or suggestions i would very much appreciate it

More than anything, there is nothing you can do to prepare except start soliciting companies. They will all want to meet you before they give contract, which is necessary to get work visa. They may even require that you have your ID card prior to a contract, which means, if you are not adverse to it, you should find a language school to get work visa sponsorship and come here with the visa, get your ID Card (cedula extranjeria) and then do your job search - you are fully employable with this card. But send me your resume, I will give you an idea of your chances.

rmykita says on Nov 28, 2006, 08:24: I am offering other employment, in early-mid 2007, in Bogota. I work in entrepreneurial development and relocation services for internationals arriving to Colombia, more principally, Bogota. I need life-market consultants, basically, professionals who want to support in the construction of an international support services house and consulting base. We are a legitimate NGO, fully-financed, aiming to target professionals who move to bogota (and eventually elsewhere) and offer professional networking, integration services, and social services. If interested in a concept paper, or our legal documents, please email. Thanks!
