Moving to Bogota

I will be moving to Bogota in July to teach in a colegio for a year. The school's address is autopista norte, costado occidental, club via arrayanes. I'm told it's kind of on the outskirts of Bogota and I was wondering if anyone knew this area and knew of some cool neighborhoods/places to live that are not too far. I'm bilingual and have lived in South America so finding a place shouldn't be super difficult but I've never been to Bogota (or Colombia for that matter) and I'm looking for an area where there are things to do (restaurants, places to go out at night, etc) that's not really snobby but is still pretty safe. The school provides transportation but I know the traffic is crazy so ideally I'd like to live within a half hour of the school. Does anyone know this area and if so, could you recommend some decent neighborhoods where there are things to do and I'll find a good mix of people? I've looked online but can't seem to find too much info. Also, how difficult is it to find a furnished apartment?

Cedritos I would say Cedritos, not very expensive, plenty of street activity, quite safe and somewhat closer to where you will be living.

Cedritos Anything but yuppie, very middle of the road. The closer to Autopista Norte the easier to depend on the Transmilenio mass transport for moving around.

I work a t a school very close to yours... Its a school area, there's tons all over the place... and most of the expats at my school are placed in Cedritos... it is safe, nice, and close enough to school to not have to spend an hour on a bus.

Question In order to become a techer there, do you have to have a B.A. or B.S. here? Can you get that ceritifcation (TEL or whatever) without the bachelors degree?

If you like salsa Hi, if you like salsa there is a website describing some places (the site is being updated constantly). Some places are located in dangerous zones, so try to go always with local and trustful company.

thanks Thanks for the tip. I checked it out and it will definitely come in handy. One questions though---while I like salsa, I am a huge fan of Cuban timba. Do you know of any places that play a LOT of cuban salsa/timba like Los Van Van, Charanga Habanera, etc?
