I am a teacher (with a lot of teaching materials) moving from San Jose, CA to Bucaramanga, Colombia. I am trying to find the most reasonable way to ship my stuff. So far I have found great rates shipping to Cartagena, but then the companies won't ship my stuff inland. Any suggestions?

I suggest checking some company like http://www.allied.com/ which will handle both ends of the shipment. If you are young, skilled, and intelligent, you might want to seriously consider leaving the US now, while you still can. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

dwmte7 says on Jun 8, 2008, 08:40: hello brightown...i've had shit loads of experience moving containers back and forth from colombia to the us and the us to colombia. there's plenty of problems one deals with there. however, when you move your goods from the p.o.i. (point of entry) to destination, the biggest problem is theft. you'll have dealt with that at cartegena and buenaventura upon entry. but the largest theft occurs between p.o.i and destination. ask around alot for referrals re. trucking companies. i haven't found the honest one yet. do demand that your goods be shipped 'in bond' from the port to destination. that way they receive a port seal/lock and shouldn't be opened by anyone but you...not even police, as they are sealed in the aduana. dwmte 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
