I don't know how many older guys or gals review this site but if you want to retire to Colombia and are gringo/gringa here's the scoop: you can apply for a visa pensionado ($305) from the Colombian Embassy nearest you, NY, Chicago etc. Nead a letter from your retirement plan public or private stating your retirement income (must be $1500 minimo), 2 copies of the completed application, three passport photos, 2 copies of every stamped page of your passport and that's about it depending on the embassy. This visa is permanent so does not have to be renewed in Bogota every year. The big restricction is you can't work there. The visa remains in effect so long as you are not out of the country for a period of more than two years and with it you can get a cedula which is required in order to open a bank account and just about any other activity. I sent my application in last week.
So there you have it! Suerte!
