Moral Dilemma?

Colombia faces a bit of a dilemma. Should the government indeed pay the reward money promised for delivering one of the FARC secretariado or should guerrillero Rojas be tried for murder. If it doesn’t pay and castigates Rojas in some form then the incentive for turnining in FARC bosses evaporates. If it does pay and Rojas goes free it opens its self to some pretty intense criticism.

OR...they could have Rojas killed and make it look like FARC were dishing out some retribution.
However, that might deter any other guerrilleros from doing the same thing.

It is a hard decision. If he gets the reward and walks, there is an ex FARC assasin at large. If not, or if he´s prosecuted, the favour which he carried out will not be repeated by others. There are also far-reaching political and legal implications here, which need to be addressed before a decision is reached.

Kill them all and let God sort them out???

He gets the reward and is tried for murder. The next guy will bring him in alive, or point him out to authorities.

I don't think it's that big of an issue.

They should pay Rojas the reward. They should also investigate and prosecute him for all the crimes he's no doubt committed as a big whig FARC guy himself (remember, this was no foot soldier). And, in terms of killing Rios, I'm sure there's not a court in Colombia that would find him guilty of murder in that situation.

These things are not mutually contradictory.

What are they doing with all the ex-FARC members? Are they throwing them in jail? Arent' they giving them benefits to fit right back into normal society and actually hide from FARC?...

The only difference between the people that surrender and are done with FARC and this guy is that he's bringing back pieces of a body in lieu of a cash reward....

Pay him the money... Force him to live in Venezuela, where I'm sure Chavez's people will take good care of him... =)
