Monserrate in Bogota

Hello,

Anyone know if the cablecar and funicular leave from the same station when going to monserrate?

Just watch out for the funky/spooky music they play up there!

Actually, they do not leave from the same station.

When I've been there, there hasn't been a choice. You go up the mountain on the funicular railroad and you come down the mountain on the cable car, so technically, they leave from different stations.

Hmm,

On my visits you had to ride the cable car both ways.

I think it depends on whichever is working on the day.

It also depends on the schedule. When I went I had to go up in the cable car and down in the funicular. The ticket booth sells tickets for both and that's close to where you enter/exit as well.

Leroy is correct

my experience, just from June this year, was same as travelingirl

And, it is highly recommended that, to have dinner up at the top, in the lil white restaurante called San Ysidro... 5star dinning... even better viewing of the expansiveness of Bogota.

Where do we go from here?

Funicular is open in the mornings from 5 a.m. to 12 noon. Cable car opens in the afternoons 12 noon to midnight. Sundays and holidays both are open. They leave from the same station down in Bogotá but arrive into different stations up in Monserrate.

The funicular leaves from a different station. I would recommend taking it b/c it seems a little more secure than the cable car. (I am scared of heights so I made sure I took the funicular) I took the funicular on the way up and down and there was no problem. I made sure we got there early though b/c the lines can get kinda ridiculous around the holiday season.
