Yep the cars on Poblado avenue were hitting the horns like crazy and people waving the white flags out of there apartments Its still going on alittle but mostly Centro..All around Noon for about thirty minutes.

Hotel Belfort which I see from my balcony let white balloons off from there property.
Right now is still difficult in Centro to get around....

It was not a moment of silence, it was a "pitazo" as the mayor called it. Everybody at 12 noon had to whistle or honk to protest against kidnappings. All political movements regardless got together to protest. The honking and whistling which was supposed to last 5 minutes lasted over 1 hour.

the taxi I took from the airport had a hand made sign of protest taped to the window, I wondered what that was about, now I know.

I have to say, the difference between BsAs and here is very noticeable. The people just are so much more friendly. Maybe the feeling is exaggerated for me because I had a run in with some obnoxious immigration guy leaving BsAs.

Well I am trying to get a handle on this...I understand this was a protest on no more violence but also was this a protest against Uribe to make a deal to do a swap with the FARC to release prisoners for kidnapped hostages..I know one of the prisoners the FARC wants released is in the EEUU Federal Prison on cocaine trafficking which I am assuming there is no way he is getting released..after being convicted and sentenced..unless he wins an appeal trial. So how is that going to work...

Tough decision on Uribe to make that deal...

Anyways good protest..on forcing the Uribe government and FARC to come to a agreement to stop the violence..
