(MFE, D) The PBH Voluntary Code of Conduct to Protect Womenfolk and Youth

These days, even video games are rated G, PG, AA and R.

Some of the postings on PBH are juvenile, sarcastic and abrasive. That's fine for men. But these frank discussions are needlessly scaring away sensitive and civilized womenfolk and scarring our youth (just psychologically -- not like morphus offering them minisigui at his place cerca de aquí).

Not everyone wants to read some batshit insane political rant or join some flame war. So, I propose a voluntary system of thread labelling, similar to movie ratings, so that people can more easily skip these useless topics and learn about Colombia. I'm also getting tired of having moderators call me up at three in the morning -- crying that they had to delete another useless and thread, but were called nasty names and felt bad.

All YOU have to do to restore dignity and sanity to PBH is to use the Voluntary Code of Conduct to provide fair and ample warning to those who might get infected from its bilious and scirrhous content. Before the thread title, simply put one of the following codes in brackets. Youth and womenfolk will then now whether they should avoid this thread and protect their innocence.

I would appreciate your feedback, and advice on other possible codes.

(T1) This thread was written by an anonymous troll. It is by a "Colombian university student looking to meet gringos" who has been on PBH for four minutes and has a user name composed of eight random letters thoughfully chosen by mashing "sgjhdhjt" on the keyboard.

(T2) This thread was written by troll well known to the PBH community, including friends and Dopplegangers of ColombiaMike, Don Gringo, Pow Wow and other familiar faces.

(MFE) My freaking ears! This thread contains offensive words like "batshit".

(CPR) Crazy political rant. This thread discusses Jewish cabals, how Rosie O'Donnell is causing the decline and fall of American society, how paramilitaries are good for Colombia or other rants which would be considered extraordinary outside of the US or Colombia.

(D) This thread is understood to have a disclaimer, allowing the poster to say potential offensive stuff that is clearly "just a joke" -- Lighten up!

(EM) This thread is by Elmodefoque and may contain references to, or music by, Diomedes Diaz.

(MP1) This thread is written on behalf of Colombians everywhere. You just wouldn't understand.

(OBC) Old boys club. This thread is about topics womenfolk and youth may find sensitive, or even really, really, REALLY boring.

(WF) This thread discusses issues of particular interest to womenfolk -- be it telenovelas, hygiene or pilates.

(DR) This thread contains Drug References which are irrelevant to most people since there are no drugs in Colombia.

(V) Violence. You might be thinking of another country that contains violence. Did you try asking Old Man Venezuela?

(FW) This thread contains five pages of flame war, arguing about whether a football game is or isn't a good analogy for Colombian society.

(CP) Common people. This thread discusses topics regarding humble folks who pay lower than average utility bills. There is no elitism in Colombia -- hence this thread should also be rated G.

(G) Gringo thread. This thread contains gringo impressions which are unreliable and dangerous. It may discuss personal safety, why Colombians are perfect, novias, how to use estratos to discriminate, escopolamina or other issues irrelevant to Colombians.

(N/CPH) Nudity/Cell phone holding. This thread contains graphic pictures that may be unsuitable or may contain cell phones. Viewer discretion is advised.

(UTC) This thread may contain brujería.

(PBsH) This thread contains more than eight of the above categories. Gringos are too lazy to write down ALL of them.

(W) Whiny thread, about a deleted thread or some other issue regarding moderators, burundanga, or being stabbed.

I welcome other suggestions. ;)

(BS) It is understood the average thread contains a decent helping of bullshit. This thread contains nothing else.

This thread was written way back when at the same time as the popular thread "Women on PBH" which argued the perceived lack of female contributiors here was due to the abrasive and immature nature of everybody else. This is probably true.

Most guys like to eat too. I like to cook more than most Colombians I have met. Spas, beauty tips and personal problems fall under the basic category of "hygiene". In-laws might well find pilates impressive. Soldier pics seem to be chiefly of interest to Vup and Colombia_Mike, but whatever floats your boat. There would be no Colombia without music and dance.

This pretty much leaves telenovelas, hygiene and pilates. But you're right; if there was a women's zone here, podborski would never get off the damn computer and finish his hotel.

Seems fair enough. I'd wager even podborski, MC and goin_south would stay away from a thread about knitting (but not picking nits). You could use that as a cover to spin yarns about child frearing, fertility, romance and Colombian soldiers doing pilates while wearing uniforms with shiny buttons. ;) 'Course you'll have to keep the thread count down to avoid attracting suspicion. Thanks man t, at least the week ended well, I met some more neighbours, a really nice couple who are thinking of doing a boutique hotel too.

So I took them for a tour of my place, and told them NOT to use my architects, jaja.

They invited me to their house for dinner next week. They were so polite, latin people just seem to say things in such a flowery, elegant way, you know?

It's funny, I meet some of the most arrogant people I've ever met here, and also some of the very nicest. Colombia is a bit like that too (although I have not met too many of the arrogant type there).

Anyway, off to try a new restaurant tonight, Peruvian. I came across it today while wandering around looking for antiques. Might have to report the results tomorrow on the Argentina thread!

Leisure suit
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A leisure suit is a fashion of the 1970s, consisting of a shirtlike jacket and matching pants [1] usually made of stretchable double knit polyester. It is often considered emblematic of the era's alleged bad taste in men's clothing.

This topic reminds me of my years working in Labor Relations. I was the only female on the management side of the table. The union officials made it a point to not swear in front of me. I will never forget the day the president once had an outburst in a meeting and swore at management...during the break he apologized to me (not any of the men) for his language. They were always very respectful of women, although they really didn't have to be in front of me. I wasn't offended, nor do I find the posts here in PBH offensive. It's kind of fun looking into the minds of you guys. My two cents on the matter.

Glad to hear that, Pod. A human head weighs 5 kilos.

He says we're going the wrong way...
Oh, he's drunk. How would he know where we're going?

Just joking pod you probably have like 5 argentinas after you...

I didn't even stay awake during Sleepless in Seattle. I asked for my money back, since I saw the movie in Seattle. I'm not sleepless! This is flagrant false advertising!

(OK, I haven't seen the movie. Shoot me. Just don't cut my head off with that drawknife gizmo.)

That would make sense, I guess. In Argentina, they just say "que sal" and they probably mean "estoy salado".

I am unlucky in love, like pod. I spend too much time working and too much time here. I also swear at women when I really want to flatter them. "But muñeca, it's a pirobo!"

So if you watch "The Crying Game" and didn't cry, then you can understand how upset I would have theoretically felt if I had fallen asleep in Seattle during a certain movie I have not seen! Righteous anger!
