Mexico Vindicates Victims of Colombia Raid

Mexico, Mar 30 (Prensa Latina) Mexico's Foreign Ministry condemned Sunday the death of four young nationals in Colombian air raid into Ecuador, calling it an open violation of international law.

In a letter signed on behalf of President Felipe Calderon, Foreign Secretary Patricia Espinosa expressed the government´s condolences to the relatives of the Mexican victims of the Colombian Armed Forces and wished a prompt recovery to survivor Lucia Morett.

Espinosa announced legal aid to help the investigation and said Mexico will provide consular support and protection to the relatives of the victims.

She added that Mexico will urge Colombia, despite President Alvaro Uribe´s refusal, to compensate the relatives of the Mexicans killed in the strike, and Morett, who survived the attack.

Lets do the math. They were part of Farc. Farc holds 700 hostages. They still need to pay, there for I guess Colombia does not need to compensate the relatives and as a matter of fact Colombia will need to kill a few of them as well.

I say we send Lucia Morett back to FARC camp, after she's recovered... Maybe we'll get her the 2nd time..

Ok, I'm a little tired and bitter at this finger pointing madness... Doesn't Mexico have enough crap on their plate.... How is life in Chiapas been lately?...

How come she is just now saying this stuff and mentioned none of it during her interviews in the hospital? It sounds like absolutely coached bullshit. She's lucky they let her guerrillera ass live. They should have put a bullet in her.

I have previously posted an interview with her from an Ecuadorian newspaper where she admits that she is a guerrillera , but states that she hadn't been one for very long.

CG- Clearly, you believe in the death penalty and in a shoot-first mentality (before proven guilty). I strongly disagree with these points of view.

Anyways, I looked through some of your previous comments and this is all I found... could you please direct me to the interview you mention?

ColombianoGringo says on Monday March 17th, 2008 15:43:

Morett openly admitted that she is a guerrillera. I saw an interview in an Ecuadorian paper were she said "No he sido guerrillera por mucho tiempo. Soy nueva en esto." That seems pretty clear to me. They knew very well that they were dealing with an illegal, terrorist organization. They chose to go to a military camp and have no one but themselves to blame for their deaths and injuries.

As I've said before, I feel for the parents, but how many times have you seen a criminal's parents on the news admitting that their precious snowflake is guilty?

They wanted to play "cowboys and guerrilleros" and the "game" found them. I wonder how they like the game now.

ColombianoGringo says on Apr 14, 2008, 15:51:

I had put a reference to the actual interview or at least the newspaper that carried it. I can't remember where it came from but I didn't make it up. "No he sido guerrillera por mucho tiempo" sounds pretty clear to me. That is very different from "No soy guerrillera". Her own words damn her.

I do believe in the death penalty, but that is not at issue here. This woman was essentially an enemy soldier as far as the Colombian armed forces are concerned. By her presence in that enemy camp, she effectively put herself in a position to be a valid target. In AN ARMED CONFLICT, you shoot the enemy. There is no due process or trial on the battle field, only rules of engagement. The fact that she is alive seems to indicate that the Colombian soldiers followed those rules by not killing what amounted to a wounded enemy soldier.

With those statements you legitimize this conflict as a 'war' and give support to what some people have suggested in that some of the FARC hostages are deemed as legitimate prisoners of war.
Regardeless, you said "They should have put a bullet in her" which would have been a war crime.

ColombianoGringo says on Apr 14, 2008, 16:10:

I was using the term "war" in a general and not a specific sense. Let's just say armed conflict since you are being so picky about semantics. War crime or not, I still they think they should have put a bullet in her. I really don't care if that offends whatever beliefs cause you to want to defend this lying criminal. Are you as concerned about all the war crimes perpetrated by the farc upon the Colombian people?

=========================
The article is a summary given in Ecuador by a Mexican Student about how she was sexually harassed by the Colombian Soldiers during the raid that killed the FARC commander Reyes.

The Colombian Soldiers made her take off her clothes and made comments about some of her body parts (nice tit’s maybe?) she said she was pretty and the Colombians liked her.

Later she said the Colombian Soldiers made a recording of her saying the Colombian Army respected the life of the wounded.

Then,, they turned off the recorder and said they would kill her if she didn’t cooperate.

Her only conclusion was that the Colombian Soldiers didn’t want people to think they killed the wounded.

Hummmm,
A Female Mexican student (three wasn’t it) is found in a FARC camp,,, not just any camp,, a FARC leaders camp. A month later out comes this story. Nice that she now knows the exact time because the Colombian Soldiers removed her watch and the Colombians arrived with a recorder and had the time to take an interview.

She admitted she was pretty and desirable,, kind of a narcissist,, if you consider I do not believe a story made up by an obvious FARC sympathizer with,,, I’d almost bet,, assistance from Ecuador.

Looks more like to me she was caught with her hand in the cookie jar and needs something to tell the folks back home.

Doubt the FARC have cookie jars so I wonder where she had her hand?

Good for you. However the story above is about Colombian soldiers having the time to make a Mexican FARC take off clothes and make a recording.

Give me a break.

You obviously have your ways of reading in between lines and coming up with conclusions that satisfy you. You give me a break, if you expect me to respond to someone that states "if you consider I do not believe a story made up by an obvious FARC sympathizer with,,, I’d almost bet,, assistance from Ecuador" when there's no evidence of this.

Romy, and just how do you suggest the FARC are "tried properly", (whatever that means), for their crimes against Humanity? Would you pretend to send a couple of policemen with six shooters a la Barney Fife and an arrest warrant into the jungle, present it to Marulanda and El Mono and they would meekly hold out their hands to be cuffed?
