Merry Christmas

and Happy New year (because I won't post another message in new year)

Oh and for those of you that are in Colombia now... que envidia. This is my first christmas in the US and I am so bored! :(

My family in law is the greatest (they are waitting for 12 to go to sleep because I told them we congratulate each other at that time, they ate my natilla and keep trying to make me happy), and my husband is the best that has ever happened in my life, but watching TV and eating after exchanging gifts is far from my idea of christmas

So those of you who are in colombia... enjoy it a little more for me :)

Merry Christmas, Xmas, happy holidays, season's greetings Happy Channukah, God Jul, Hyvää Joulua, Feliz Navidad to
you Silviat, Gomezman, all.

(taking a short break while getting ready for the next family get-together; my kitchen is full of tantalizing smells, the villancicos are playing in my stereo, my tree is decked with multicolor lights and hyacinths and pointsettias bring colour and fragrance to my home. There's a little snow on the ground, the pale winter sun that lights up the sky but does not spread any warmth is out. The candles are burning and everybody was happy with their presents last night.)

Cheers,
Desi

Tradition in Colombia Christmas Eve in Colombia: At midnight, in the US, not a creature is stirring, not even a mouse. In Colombia however, no one is sleeping, it's like New Years eve! Trying to get through on a phone call last night, midnight, was nearly impossible as the whole world who has family in Colombia was calling to say congratulations. But I made it through at 12:05. Whew! It was great to hear the Colombian hubub at midnight, great as they were passing around the phone, talking to entire family who were all celebrating with Ron (Medellin) and Aguardiente (Antioqueño)! Hopefully all here in the US who have family, loved ones in Colombia were on the phone chatting away at midnight last night. As they say it's the next best thing to being there. Silvia, I hear you when you say, "So those of you who are in colombia... enjoy it a little more for me....." Next year I will and I will think of the US and the rest of the world. Merry Christmas to all here, there and the whole world.

We were up at midnight to go to Mass. My youngest stepdaughter was an angel in the little pageant that we had illustrating the gospel reading. Then we came home and opened presents.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all on poorbuthappy, and here in London as I type, it's snowing. As much as I love Colombia I don't think I could ever appreciate a Christmas at 32oC

thanks lucia you are right.

my family in law has been really great with me since the beginning... and seeing my parents in law making their best efforts to learn salsa at 12am (when their bed time is like 9 or 10) really meant a lot for me... I wasnt in Colombia with my family and friends, but I was here with my new family and my husband...

So the true is that I shouldnt complain anymore (I can be good at complaining) because I am lucky.. and this 2005 brought a lot of happiness to my life.
