Men and women

I've been trying to catch up with my reading here after a five-week semi-retirement from the forum. Nothing seems to have changed and the same topics pop up under different headlines all the time. Racism /class distinctions/discrimination issues have been beaten to death and the other recurring theme seems to be the wonderful qualities of Colombian women as compared with the rotteness of the gringas, the evil nature and the ugliness of Colombian males vs. the good looks and righteousness of the gringo male.

I am prejudiced, of course, having had the good fortune to meet Colombian men that are both faithful, good-looking, smart and loving. I don't think that a man has to be tall, beefy or blond to be attractive. I still think that a typical Latino of a good family and a solid education with wits, good communication and social skills is nothing to be overlooked as a potential life-time partner. I'm certainly glad I found out this before reading these forums, otherwise I would've been too scared to make the commitment.

Cheers,

Colombian guys? I'm not exactly into the way men look but it seems to me that Colombian men look better than their 'estadounidense' counterparts the same way that the women do, and for the exact same reasons (not everybody drives a fucking car, people eat much less processed crap food etc). As for faithful, I'm a born cynic. I always assume everybody is not faithful :)

Desideria (Moderator) says on Jul 29, 2005, 14:33:

glad that you brought up the subject I've been thinking about starting a new thread on that. The chickens in Finland survived, all except one. The problem was with the roosters wanting a preferencial treatment and getting pissed off because I refused to give them any. (preferencial treatment, that is).

On a serious note, I have discovered that the chickens in Finland are very cold-hearted and callous, only worried about having the best roosters for them and and the cleanest and softest nests to lay their eggs. I strongly believe the Colombian chickens have stronger family values.

rubiazo, I agree with you that Colombian men look just as attractive as Colombian females and for the same reasons. I also don't think that Colombian men and women have two different set of morals and "family values". I believe that the same women that complain about cheating men are the ones who as mothers raise up their sons with these morals and as wives and girlfriends make it possible for them to be unfaithful. It's just a fragment of the same picture.

Good thread... I have never thought that Gringo men are that much better looki-ng than Colombianos, they are just taller on average, but gringos like colombianos - come in all shapes and sizes (the former often comes in the round shape more often than the latter) .
I don't know what the big fuzz is about, why some guys in this forum go on like being Gringo makes you some sort of God in Colombia (as one of the gringo posters said "don't hate me because I am beautiful"). Like I said on a former thread, I have been to a few colombian festivals and have seen a fair share of handsome colombianos, very handsome actually. Elmo said that they are better because they eat Canada and US food vs. arepa. I agree more with Rubiazo, I think the food in Colombia is less processed and contains much less preservatives than the food in north america. As a result, Colombian people tend to be much slimmer than the average North American.

I think colombianos are fine. Come on, look at Cordoba, Mondragon, Yepes...

Desi To tell you the truth, I think there has actually been a noticeable decline in discussion about the “wonderful qualities of Colombian women as compared with the rottenness of the gringas, the evil nature and the ugliness of Colombian males vs. the good looks and righteousness of the gringo male” since you have been gone.

Who ever said gringas were rotten or colombianos were evil anyway?

People that think that americanos travel all the way to Colombia because gringas are some how lacking have severely underestimated the relative attractiveness of the average Colombiana;-)

Anyway, It’s good to have you back;-)

But it’s statements like this: “I believe that the same women that complain about cheating men are the ones who as mothers raise up their sons with these morals and as wives and girlfriends make it possible for them to be unfaithful.” That make a person wonder just were the hell you have been.

I don’t really think it is fair to blame the behavior of Colombian males on the way their mothers raised them; unless you are also going to give them credit for the wonderful job they have done with their daughters. hehehe !!

Desideria (Moderator) says on Jul 30, 2005, 08:30:

kim, calipro, good to see you guys around even in the height of summer and season for vacations. Kim, don't you miss that zagarise character (enzo, I think is his name); we did have some good, clean fun with him, didn't we?

Yes, calipro. It's all one and the same package. Colombian mothers and fathers raise up both their sons and daughters with fluctuating and forgiving attitudes towards marital fidelity. Baby boys are cuddled and consented to no end; baby girls are taught to be miniature seductresses as soon they're out of their diapers. Society is permissive and if not downright encouraging at least tolerant towards playing the field according to each and every one's assets and abilities.

And then again, calipro, what would you know about raising up children in Colombia? Have you raised up a family in Cali with a Colombian spouse? No, I don't think so. You may know much more than I about the party scene and maffia princesses, good-time girls and people who populate the desnucaderos and sitios de mala muerte in Cali, but that's not real life. That doesn't make you a calipro.

No, I haven't chosen to fold out all my life with every detail here nor do I plan to do so either. For anybody who has read my posts it's totally out in the open that I lived in Cali as a Colombian, not as an expatriate and that my work and family connections there have provided me some insight how children are raised up there. I wouldn't knock the trophy wife thing to much. There is a lot to be said for having a strong physical attraction. Sure it's a little more work but well worth the effort IMHO.

I live in Phoenix and a lot of gringos thought my wife was mexican which pissed her off to no end.

The mexicanos are going to know she isn't a mexicana right away if she dresses like a typical caleña everyday.

If I was around a bunch of mexicanos that I didn't know she couldn't walk ten feet in front of me or behind me without getting some kind of a lewd comment.

I was surprised when she just started calling them dirty midgets to their faces. She really ended up getting a pretty stuck up attitude with all mexicans after a while which kind of pissed me off seeing how some of my best friends are mexicans.

I hope you have better luck than I did in the mexican colombian relations department.

My wife told me the Colombianos don't pay any attention to whether a woman is married or not and hit on her anyway. In the US, guys may be unfaithful but they tend to respect a wedding ring. At least my wife says so - she notices that things are different here and that men don't hit on her the way they did in Colombia.

What you can't have is always more tempting then what is available.

I know women who fantasize (to varying degrees of action) on having married men, clergy, etc. who are "technically" off limits. It's the situation where these people are more attractive because of their forbidden nature. It's all lust and chemicals, it doesn't have to make sense.

But I agree, a strong commitment to one's partner is the most powerful repellent. I've seen very beautiful women with a very strong commitment to their husbands turn would-be cheaters away quite effectively. Then there are other women (and men, I suppose, but they don't affect me the same way), married and unmarried, that just sort of give off this "I'm yours for the taking" vibe.

I just think that in general there are a much higher percentage of very attractive females in Colombia as oppose to high percentage of average looking Colombia men. Therefore maybe Colombian men appear less attractive because the Colombian woman are so much more attractive. It's a lot easier for an average looking Colombian men to hook up with a very attractive Colombian female, only because there are so many in abundance. It's a lot harder for an Average looking Gringo to hook up with a very attractive Gringa, because there is no abundance.

I believe you are seriously underestimating the role that colombian mothers play in all of this, because everybody knows that "baby girls are taught to be miniature seductresses as soon they're out of their diapers. Society is permissive and if not downright encouraging at least tolerant towards playing the field according to each and every one's assets...".

Let me just give you a somewhat over simplified analogy. American mothers tell their daughters that they can be president someday. Colombian mothers tell their daughters that they should marry the president someday. hehehe !!!

Hence we have seductiveness training at an early age in Colombia VS. the brainwashing of young girls in the U.S. into thinking that they can do anything a boy can do and probably better.

Trust me when I tell you that the relatively high percentage of attractive women in Colombia has absolutely nothing to do with your ability to attract one. You attract relatively good looking colobianas because you are closer to being a president than the average colombiano. hehehe !!!

Crazy4Cali says on Aug 1, 2005, 10:02:

Since I'm already engaged to my Colombiana I can look around with a little more objectivity (I'll grant you that before that happened, my vision was a bit more selective). Anyway, I've seen what I would characterize as a pretty normal distribution of all shapes and sizes of Colombiano/as. Some are really hot, some are "lose your lunch" ugly with a lot of everything else in-between. The distribution of people is certainly skewed by specific location and event as you might expect anywhere but, on the balance, I haven't seen anything that makes the Colombian people any more or less attactive as a whole.

My only point is that a lot of people say that Colombian men are unattractive, which I disagree. I think they get stuck with this sterotype because the woman are so gorgeous. I dont think that Colombian men are equally as attractive as there female counterparts. I dont think Gringos are better looking then them, but like you say there are closer to being the president.

GOTO mangos, the MALE dancer are HOT AND they dont have silicon, plus they can dance, got a washboard stomach and have long hair! i was told by the girls here that in colombia the best looking guys are from Medellin and Cali, with BOG next then CTG/BAQ bringing up the rear.

As for the women, we´ll i´ve been here in medellin for 5 days, i´ve gone out with 2 pair of hots sister, and 1 pair of hot best friends, plus several attractive single girls. Interesting the one pair of hot sister BOTH have silicon! couldn´t believe it! The reason i keeping getting pair of hots girls, is i would contact one, but she would would always for security they bring her friend or sister. In the US, you´re lucky if the second girl is decent looking, here in the Medellin(maybe COL) their friends/sister is as hot if not hotter than the one you asked! I´ve been having to resort to actively trying find GUY friends in the foreign tourist sector(ie casinos), just to help me out and play wingman. LOL!..

silicon Ok I am going to sound a little foolish here but here goes. What do you mean by silicon? Implants? If yes, isn't it expensive espicially when money is tight in Colombia.

sure money is tight.... ...but, a girl has to have her priorities.

Also, medicine is much cheaper in Colombia than other places. Laser Eye Surgery, Cosmetic surgery, dentistry, etc. I went in for just an eye check up and walked out with a new pair of glasses for the price of just an eye exam here in gringolandia.

Colombia is the plastic surgery capital of the world. All those lovely ladies like to augment their assets and it's rare to find one who hasn't had surgery of some sort.

What can I say? Larry's a lucky guy - he's got a genuine Colombiana still in its original box.
