What is the current situation on Melgar. Is the drive from Bogota to Melgar safe and is the town itself safe. What about renting a house there? What does that normally cost? I hear it is hot, even at night. Is there air conditioning?

litost says on Dec 19, 2006, 06:51: Be advised though, it is NOT a pretty place... with the exception of some high-end condos in areas like Carmen de Apicala which are more towards Girardot. Still it can be some pool & party fun for a couple of days, just don't go expecting too much of the place.
