Melgar - current situation on safety and weather

What is the current situation on Melgar. Is the drive from Bogota to Melgar safe and is the town itself safe. What about renting a house there? What does that normally cost? I hear it is hot, even at night. Is there air conditioning?

Thanks!

Sue

Be advised though, it is NOT a pretty place... with the exception of some high-end condos in areas like Carmen de Apicala which are more towards Girardot. Still it can be some pool & party fun for a couple of days, just don't go expecting too much of the place.

Melgar / Girardot fincas I remember going to a lot of fincas around the Melgar and Girardot areas as a child and teenager.

We are starting to plan a wedding and I would like to potentially rent a really nice finca for a few days. Ideally, it would be a place that could accomodate a large number of guests(30-40) overnight. Can places like this be found and rented in the general area?

DG Are you talking about the Club Campestre Cafam or do they also have a finca type setup?

Thanks,
