I have am VERY interested in traveling to Medellin. While I have traveled all over the world solo without any problems, there have been several postings in your forums indicating that if you go out alone in Medellin, you're cosidered ,or look like, a "loser".
Going solo isn't really the problem, as I also have a friend that wants to go (he's been once) and it would probably would be more fun if he came. But here is the problem. My friend is fixated on visiting Medellin at the same time that some monthly (bi-monthly?) famous party takes place that he read about in a National Georgraphic issue. Does anyone have any information as to what, where, when this function/gathering/whatever? occurs? If so, my friend's presence would be assured. If not, I guess I'll just have to go as a "loser".

morphus says on Jan 17, 2006, 14:30: It depends. Some nights, when i go out in Medellin and i am the life of the party. Other nights, i feel like a loser. Especially on a Wednesday or Thursday nights when the clubs are only moderately packed with people. I'll walk into a nightclub in Poblado and people will give that "hey, the gringo is here to get laid" look. Its better to walk around the streets or drive around in a taxi and to make dates with girls. Then when you show up in the nightclubs with a hot chica on your arm, you will get respect. More people will want to get to know you. You won't look like a loser.

smithm says on Jan 18, 2006, 07:16: megaparty in medellin Thanks for the advice, but doyou have any information on this "super party" my friend said he read about in an issue of National Georgraphic. Supposedly, it occurs once a month and is attended by a high-end type of crowd. I told him I didn't see how that would benefit him since he'll only be there for a week and doesn't speak Spanish, but he wants to time his visit to conincide with this event.

toneloc24 says on Jan 18, 2006, 07:34: If I'm correct... it was referring to some monthly party at Mango's. I wouldn't exactly call it a "super party." It's a good time there, but don't get your hopes up. "Don't tase me, bro!!!!" 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

I can't retrieve it on my page and was wondering if you could resend it as I am traveling to Medellin on May 4.
