Meeting Colombian women

Hello folks. I have to tell you that here in Colombia there are beautiful women, but I have had the worst luck. Many of them appear to be very vain. I have had women turn thier backs on me while I was speaking to them. I have also had one girl tell me we couldn't go out again because I was too poor. She wanted a man where money is no object. Her father would never approve of the clothes I wore. Maybe its me, but I just don't see the magic in Colombian women that I was expecting. I see the surface beauty, but thats about it. What's the best way to meet a woman here. I am a little shell shocked after a couple of girls just put their noses up and turned their back. Any advice ?????

dude, what works for me is $50 us bills on my forehead.

I'll get there, when I get there!

That's sad But hey, at least they're being honest...but it's a little depressing and surprizing....I've heard tones of stories about the girls there, and I've been told they're pretty much down to earth. Just out of curiosity, where are you in the country, and where are you trying to meet them, and what do you look like? I mean, are you a total bum???

Are you serious? It was the week before my wedding and my wife and I were running around getting things done and I was still getting women flirting with me and hitting on me. Damm, Elmo, those $50 bills really worked!

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

Shane Go to Exito as they are having a suit sale (for the past year) and buy a nice suit marked down to CP$139.000 or US$53.50, then buy a nice shirt for CP$18.000 or US$7.00 and try the process again. Casual dress like jeans and tee shirts might blend in but that's not what these women are looking for as they already have that. Look at the USA as the white north american men and women mostly dress poorly while the hispanics and blacks dress sharp, drive the good cars always ending up with the good looking women. Right Elmo, it works with donkeys too !!!

Elmo's idea of the US$50 bill works in the USA but in Colombian just paste the new CP$50.000 bills on your forehead and use the change to buy your new clothes. That will work. Go back to Medellin and we can introduce you to a few nice ladies. Yes what happened to the girl in Medellin ? At least surrender her name, phone number or work place so those of us in Medellin can share in your find.

This is maybe one more example that not all Colombian women are interested in foreign men and introduction services sharpen the focus.

If you can't afford the $50 dollar bills, you might try something a bit smaller, say $20 dollar bills, and see if that works.

Whatever happened to your negrita?

I heard that euros are also appreciated in Colombia....in the worst of the cases, try a 20 euro bill and tell everybody that euros are acctually worth more than dollars....

regarding euros... no one will believe you they're worth more than dollars, they'll laugh at you for pasting monopoly money on your forhead.

junior you are very lucky i think. i have tried posting profiles on websites like that and i dont get any responses..i have emailed girls in colombia and i still dont get responses. i must be the poor ugly gringo that noone in colombia wants..maybe its true that the only reason women want american men is for their money. i saw your pictures and that gives me even more second thoughts about going there. i know i will stick out like a soar thumb since there is nothing even close to hispanic in my blood. but they are nice pics.

burro shane are you sure in your broken Spanish you didn't say something like "Yo creo que deje mi burro en Canada para ti" to the ladies.....this phrase will certainly keep the women away...although it seams to work very well for elmo

Colombianas Shane, you need a new plan. Follow the suggestions in this thread. Be A Sharped Dressed Man. Grab a Grupo Niche cd and learn how to dance. Post a profile somewhere. (I used latinamericancupid). Make contact. Communicate. Communicate more. Buy a plane ticket to Colombia and see what happens. I did, and I still can't believe the good fortune I had and still enjoy with a colombiana.

None of the women on dating sites I wrote to responded to me. But on the other hand I received lots of emails by women intersted in me writing out of their own initiative, some of them so good looking (amd young) that I wouldn´t have dared to write to them myself.

I don´t think I am very good looking (and I don´t care very much for clothes), but still I seem to be interesting for many latina women.
The key factor to me seems to be being able to speak decent spanish. Most lationos like conversation very much.

I wrote on my website profile that I am actually studying spanish and would appreciate the help of a charming latina woman to practice. Worked out fine for me.

Hey Shaner,
I've read most of your posts and I think I have an idea where you're coming from. I just wanted to say that you shouldn't get too discouraged, because the type of women you are looking for are there. You just need to be patient. My wife, for example, is one of the least materialistic people I know (and beautiful inside and out). But don't get any ideas I'm keeping her forever and her sister's taken. Anyways best of luck and don't be sticking any loonies on your forehead.

Non-pushy but Straightforward Al pie de la letra papa, como que la estas agarrando del cuello pero claro, sin hacerlo, me entendes? The element of surprise

Shane,
Are you being too good when approaching these women? You can not be. You must not be too passive. Some might disagree but superficiality counts when & how you behave in public & the aura you give off...in short, women are superficial to an extent...Sometimes they sense when a man feels like a "whimp" when talking to them. I don't think you are since you've taught English yourself and that takes some courage. How about being straightforward & surprising? Instead of saying how pretty she looks, maybe start the convo in rather casual way; like go to a bookstore & ask for a colombian author...or how great the weather is but mean it. A sense of surprise, women like that here & it takes extra dynamism to ching ching it. Also, your Spanish must be a more than Hola mami Que linda te ves, hermosura...A tip, always introduce yourself and extend your hand & ask about they do; people feel good when you inquire about THEIR life & interests, do no talk about you unless asked for...dressing sharp is another. Personally, when in doubt I wear khakis, long-sleeves and it works mate. I would not wear jeans at all down there and don't think you need to buy a suit however, dressy slacks with nice long-sleeve color combinations work big time.
Pardon me, you said you were going bald; do you think this has an effect? I've got a residing line that suddenly stopped but hey, it hurted in the beginning. How's the complete bald look, shaving it all? Then inject on yourself that bold dashing appearance & attitude...you got to juggle it all & put it together...never stop moving..keep on moving & you'll hit the spot...not matter what..Good luck, got to get ready myself
