Meet Up in November in Manizales

As most of you know I am returning to the hinterland of my procreator the first week of November to live and try and get a business going.

Several members of PBH have intimated they would would like to have a meetup and I think that would a fun time. I think I even have Johnny 2009 convinced to leave Bogota and come on down to the city that has four seasons in the course of a single day.

So why don't you guys post dates after the first week that you can maybe slide on down and we can get something arranged.

There is a great little bar in El Cable called Juan Sebastian that plays dixieland, big band, frank sinatra, at a lower volume which is a great place to start the night off. And is usually full of pretty chicas, and is smack dab in the zona rosa.

Bushwick. I live in La Francia, one of the older neighborhoods. But I got out en el Cable, which is where Cable Plaza is.

I know good girls. Pretty and nice, with jobs are college students, no kids, and not gold diggers.

Teeo,

It has been there for about 17 years. There use to be a bar above it called Años locos on la avenida. Don't you live by the stadium?

If you are standing in front of La Barra and walk down maybe 1-2 blocks it is the red door, no sign, right past The View, in a corner. You really have to know where it is.

Here is a photo page on Facebook.

Since it does not play loud music salsa, or reggaeton, it only has a certain clientel.

Hey Flat, I was in Manizales last year with the misses. I never knew that there was a place as cold as that in all of Colombia. I think now that it wasn't so bad. Just spent a few days in Bogota and the city is as cold as the airport overnight.

Papi,

In Manizales they say, Manizales de mi alma, which is usually said when it is cold and rainy.

Or they say it is the only city in Colombia where you can have all four seasons in one day. Though I have to say, it was super hot in august for a few days.

Bushwick, let me get the name of a better and probably less expensive hotel than Las Colinas, cannot remember it off the top of my head but it nearer the zona rosa in a nice neighborhood. Las Colinas is over rated and to costly for what they give you in return. Plus there is nothing to do downtown at night except get in cab.

Miguel,

I am not a big fan of Chipre, it has become a little bit seedy in the last ten years.

whats the name of the club way up on the hill? you take a long road to it up a hill. looks like an old house, with a large parking lot in front. Went there several times but there alway idiots fighting there. lots of kids drunk out of their minds.

El Portico is the name of the place. It runs between 100k-150 a night, Big rooms, kitchen, flat screen etc. And a super safe part of town.

Las Colinas is like an old Motel 6 in comparison.

Miguel,

It is in the neighborhood right before Palermo. I think it used to be an apartment building, But about a half mile from La Plaza.

I just dug around and they even have a website. Over the years I have stayed in most hotels in Manizales and even a few residencias, and the residencias were usually cheaper and nicer. But El Portico is probably the nicest and quietest I have stayed in.

I went up Nevada del Ruiz on my 1972 Lambretta up to the penultimate station no bikes after that had to jump in a big Toyota the mini-buses are expensive (I think they quoted $30.000 pesos) then walked the last bit ,do it slowly especially coming down as you will end up with sorroche (altitude sickness) some of my friends from Medellin did it too fast & spent time in the sick bay barffing afterwards .
