Mabel Lara es la nueva cara de las noticias en Caracol durante el fin de semana
Cuando descansa, los lunes y los martes, Mabel Lara se dedica a conocer Bogotá y a pasar el tiempo con su esposo. A sus 28 años, esta caucana ya había hecho una carrera en presentación de noticias en Telepacífico.

Durante siete años trabajó en el canal regional pero quería encontrar otro rumbo en Bogotá. Sin embargo, no tuvo necesidad de buscarlo.

Su oportunidad le llegó a través de Mauricio Gómez, el hijo de �lvaro Gómez Hurtado, que la vio mientras hacía el documental 'Colombia Vive' y le dijo: "Tú tienes que estar allá". En pocos días la contactó el vicepresidente de Caracol, Camilo Durán, y le ofreció trabajo.

Aunque sus labores comenzaron como reportera, el vacío que tenía el noticiero durante los fines de semana la llevó a ocupar ese espacio. Ahora no solo presenta las noticias del mediodía y de la noche sino que coordina los enlaces con todos los canales regionales durante la emisión.

Lara es comunicadora social y periodista especializada en Gerencia Social de la Universidad Javeriana de Cali y estuvo vinculada, además, a varios proyectos sociales en esa ciudad y en el municipio de Puerto Tejada (Cauca), donde nació.

"Cuando uno está allá (en su ciudad) el anhelo más grande es llegar a pisar algo nacional. Ahora que estoy acá, disfruto cada una de las cosas que vivo en el día a día. No estoy pensando, por lo pronto, en lo internacional. Quiero aprender de esta nueva etapa y dedicarme a estudiar ciencias políticas. Me veo en 15 o 20 años trabajando en temas de derechos humanos y proyectos sociales y el periodismo alimenta ese camino, por eso estoy disfrutando esta etapa con todo", asegura la presentadora.

Por fortuna, dice ella, sus planes de descanso no eran las rumbas, pues ahora, mientras el común de la gente descansa los sábados y los domingos, Lara deberá hacerlo los lunes y los martes. "Debo admitir que mi vida sí ha cambiado, pero ahora aprovecho para pagar recibos, disfrutar a mi esposo y conocer a Bogotá, que eso si es primordial", asegura.

Esta caleña de adopción se casó hace algo más de un año y junto con su esposo, un productor de televisión, se trasladó a Bogotá y montó la productora que tenían en Cali. "Estamos empezando a construir relaciones, la gente de clima frío es muy distinta a nosotros y eso es lo que más extraño, mi familia", asegura la nueva presentadora que solo pensará en hijos luego de dos años.

It's good to see that Colombian TV is finaly starting to give the other half of population the opertunities that the white ones seem to monopolise. I am amazed that there are few if any black or native news casters, or actors in the tely novelas., I have only ever seen one TV add with a black person in it. The sad part is that most Colombians dont even question why or even to care.
