Media Maratón en Medellin el 13 de Septiembre

Who´s up for it?? 3 months preperation for 10k should be plenty. Research on how to build up to a 10k run might be needed.

I´ve never done anything like this before but i´m up for the challenge. I do run 5 or 6 times a week but only on a treadmill for 30 mins, 5 1/2 k.

Here are some details http://maratonmedellin.com

Media Maratón is more than 20 K I had done it in almost two hours whether the winners do it in about 1 hour and 4 minutes. Along the 20K Maratón there is a 10K for those not wanting the extra effort.

Regarless of which one you run if you are not experienced runner, remember to drink enough liquids and eat plenty of carboydrates befor the "race".

Here is the link to the Bogotá race.

Of course 13miles not 10k is half a marathon, i´m still up for it. We could get some sponsors going to help charities if anyone is involved in that area of things?

It says 21k on the website

There´s a 5k, 10k, and the media (which is approx 21.1k) on the same day. I ran it last year, and it was by far the hardest half I've ever done. The course is quite flat by Medellín standards, with the bridges over the river being the steepest inclines, but the combination of poor training, altitude and the heat did me in. I believe last year it started at 8:30 which is FAR too late to start a race like that, given the possibility for hot weather here.

If anyone is interested in getting in to shape to run this, I'd be happy to help out, as I was a track/cross-country coach for nearly a decade in the states. Also, if there is anyone looking to run around 1:20 or so, I'd love to have a training partner.

I was thinking the same thing dtbrooklyn, it sounds like a killer race given the fact that Medellín is not that flat, not to mention the altitude. I would love to try it though, sounds fun but I can only do 5 miles on a treadmill. uaaaa, uaaaaaaaa, uaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... :o(
