Hi,
I've been reading this forum for a while now, but this is my first post. So let me start off by saying Hi!
Next, I'd like to say that I'll be travelling to Medellín the first week of June, and I'd like some advice as to safe but cheap hotels where I can stay until I find an apartment. (I apologize as I'm sure this question, or very similar ones have been asked before -- I used the Google search on this site, but I found varying answers, so I figured I'd consult before making my final choice.) I have checked out the hotels on Travelocity.com and Expedia.com, but they seem to be pretty ritzy, starting at $71 and up for a night. What are centrally-located hotels that are in safe areas but less expensive? Or would I best just go with some of the ones offered on Travelocity.com?
Thanks in advance for everyone's advice!

ColombiaBoard says on May 18, 2005, 19:47: Hotels in La 70 If you need cheap accomodations but in a safe area then don´t go to El Poblado (fancy area) or the downtown area (some hotels are in bad areas). Head to La 70, that´s an avenue in the Estadio - Laureles section of the city, there are about 5 - 7 hotels in that area and you can stay in most of them for about 30 dollars a night, if you´ve never been to Medellin before tell the taxi driver to take you to "La 70" and then tell him that "necesito un hotel en La Setenta, por el Estadio".
