HOLA EVERYBODY!
I am new to this website………. y me voy para Medellin en tres semanas! Hace 11 anos que no voy y estoy super contenta! I agree with Chachi that all the news about this beautiful country is always BAD! I am born in New York City and woud move to Medellin in minute if I could. :)

As for a good hotel in Medellin - I hear the four points by Sheraton Medellin is very nice and located in the plush Oviedo area.
Saludos!

Medellin In El Poblado, go to the Parque Lleras area, which is where the nightlife and hotspots are.
Oviedo Mall is a nice shopping mall in El Poblado if you're into mall.
Go to El Centro- Plaza Botero is interesting for the Botero sculptures.
On Sunday nights in el centro, in Plaza Bolivar, are impromptu comedy performances on the plaza- the majority of the audience and performers are gay, but straights attend to, and the cost is free.
The Jardin Botanico near Universidad de Antioquia is a nice place to stroll on a sunny afternoon.
El Parque de Pies Descalsos is also a worth a stroll, near el centro.
The new public library in El Centro has some interesting exhibits.
Have fun in Medellin- I just got back from there!

I always advise people to get a taste of the pleasant pace of life in Colombia by spending some time in the square in front of Nuestra Senora de Belen church. The church is beautiful and there are nice benches surrounding the square. Usually there are vendors and a lot of activity with all the people passing through. You can get your hair cut in the salon fronting on the square, grab a nice cheap lunch in one of the little restaurants, or get some ice cream with all the fruit in it from one of the ice cream shops nearby.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

..any feedback about the Gran Hotel?

thanks.

RE: The Sheraton v. The Gran I have stayed at both hotels, and although the Gran is nicer with a better pool, The Sheraton is more centrally located and easier to access restaurants, etc. Just my thoughts.

try the intercontinental... it's in las palmas, has absolutely everything and is close in to anyplace you might want to go.
