Medellin to Buenos Aires - by boat?

I'd like to find a way to get to Buenos Aires other than by air. I appreciate that Medellin's port facilities are poor, but does anyone know of any ships to the 'Paris of South America' leaving from a Colombian port (Cartagena, for example)?
If it helps, I don't mind helping to shovel coal into the ship's furnace, but I would have to draw the line at sharing my hammock.

Medellin's port facilities are not only poor but non-existent since it's not even close to the ocean.

LOL... no kidding, we all thought it was the ocean, turns out it was just rain.

Oh dear - I can see that I set the 'irony detection' level too high. I am well aware that it has been a long time since Medellin was visited by ships - if ever! So putting on my straight face - anyone know of a passenger ship from a Colombian port to Buenos Aires?

I'll go out on a limb and guess that since going by boat would be so much more expensive than flying that a commercial passenger service doesn't exist. I'd be interested to be proven wrong...

I can't think of any since that is not the preferred way of traveling for Colombians. Have you called local travel agencies located in the big cities like Cartagena, Santa Marta or Barranquilla?

Fly to Leticia. Take a boat to Manaus. Take buses to BA.

Any liner services still have passenger cabins avilable? Back in the day Delta Line used to carry a few passengers on its South America ships.

You can take a boat down from Manaus, right down into Bolivia - then bus it from there

That's a long-ass trip your talking about there sailor. Mentions of coal-shoveling give me the sense you could handle an adventure: just go to your Colombian port of choice and start asking around - carefully. I wouldn't hold out for a non-stop trip, but I have no doubt that you could hop your way around and down the coast on small cargo boats. I would allow at least a couple months for that journey - which sounds quite choice actually.
