Will be in Medellin next Monday thru Thursday, could use some recommendations:
Restaurants-(will be staying at the Shertaton) looking for good local food, within walking distance of the hotel.
Bars - have seen posts on Mango's, actually looks a little like Mango's on South Beach, maybe looking for something a little more sedate, any recommendations for a bar with live music where a Gringo who speaks limited Espanol will be comfortable.
Casino- are there casinos in Medellin? Would just like to play a little blackjack.
Thanks.

Brians says on Nov 29, 2007, 07:11: Agree with Morphus on Las Palmas. Not going to see a lot happening that time of the week but Las Palmas seems to be a good mid-week hang. Try Palmitas as it has a nice little bar that is usually fun. Also for someone with limited Spanish you probably want to hang in Parque Lleras as well. Once again pretty boring that time of week. I am there as well then and don't even expect to go out for more than a little dinner with my wife until Thursday night.

ColombiaBoard says on Nov 30, 2007, 09:41: You`ll be staying next to Oviedo, one of the largest Malls in Medellin, there´s a Hato Viejo restaurant on the top floor (same floor as the cinemas) where you can find authentic colombian food. There´s also a food court where you can find all sorts of fast food restaurants but also a couple of ¨meat on the grill¨ restaurants with good food.

rhydewithdis says on Nov 30, 2007, 10:38: Habana Casino is right on Av. Poblado. If you walk out back from the Sheraton into the mall, up the first set of escalators, then up the next set of escalators, head right all the way till you get to the food court (you will actually be one floor above the food court), then head left till you end up outside with a bunch of shops. Walk to the main avenue by where Dominos Pizza is and you will see the Habana Casino. It's not especially large, but the atmosphere is friendly and they have poker tournies in the evenings. They said I couldn't play football I was too small / They say I couldn't play basketball I wasn't tall / They say I couldn't play baseball at all / And now everyday of my life I ball. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
