Medellin Hotel (Not Hostal) Recomendations

Hola to the Hive Mind of PBH--

I've trolled through several (excellent) posts here about places to stay in Medellin. I'm not sure I've found the right one just yet.

Can you recommend a nice hotel -between $30-$60 (US) per night in the heart of the Poblado area? Preferably a hotel with a website so I can check out the rooms...

Many thanks for this excellent resource for Colombia travelers!

Marco...

Holiday Inn Express -- Right on El Poblado Avenue in a luxurious shopping/dining complex.Spectacular views, all suites, free internet. Approximately $60US/night --but you MUST CALL THE HOTEL DIRECTLY IN MEDELLIN for this rate. Over the internet, it's twice as much.

Novelty Suites Hotel --very similar to above.

Gracias Jelsaad-- I just called and the rate for a single room was $114. Whoa.

Also,
When I was there last month they government/tourismo section was given tax free if you show your American passport. I do not know if this is still going on! FYI
I stayed at Park 10 before I learned about La Casa Medellin, I will give that a try this time however, I don't think either are in your budget!
Good Luck and have a great time!

Yes, 70 USD per night seems low for San Fernando Plaza. As 60 USD seemed low for Holiday Inn.
May I suggest:
HOTEL LA HABANA VIEJA. Cl 10Sur # 43A-07. Colombia - Antioquia, Medellín. Teléfonos : (57) (4) 3212557. Fax : (57) (4) 3216349

It is a couple of blocks from Oviedo and should be like 40 per night, if you ask for a discount.

I stayed at Park 10 for 1 week. Hotel was nice. We had breakfast every morning at the ground level cafe / restaurant. Very good staff.
