Medellin Hotel -the Mansion

Have gotten several recommendations directly about hotels in Medellin.
One of them seems to be a bit different. An email recommended the Medellin Mansion, was able to find 2 reviews that said it was in a good location and nice rooms. But....

I apologize if I am sounding a bit naive, but is this a hotel or brothel?
I appreciate the recommendation however I am going to have a lot of explaining to do if I stay at a cat house. Am I misreading this?(their website has the best looking employees of the month I have ever seen!)

One that did look a little closer to the type of hotel I am used to is the Affinity, any comments on it or the Sheraton?

Thanks.

Let's put this delicately.....

IT'S A BROTHEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good eye and good thinking. 2 points. I think guys stay there without using the whores that they suppply. But, c'momn, do you really want to stay at a whorehouse?

bradenmiami says on Nov 22, 2007, 11:11:

Based on what it seems you are looking for, STAY AWAY! This is a whorehouse 110%, through and through. Even if you were looking for payforplay, I would still stay away!

The "lovemedellin website" is a piece of crap made by some moron who has only been to Medellin once...you'd be better off reading the Lonely Planet advice from a guy who never even came here!

Medellin Traveler says on Nov 22, 2007, 11:22:

Check this place out http://www.lacasamedellin.com/

As has been stated, stay away from that other hotel.

cdy: About 6 or 8 months ago there was a huge thread on the Medellin Mansion. At first, I didn't realize it was a whorehouse. I checked out their website and it looked innocent enough. Then, being educated through reading people's responses in the thread, I learned that the Medellin Mansion is indeed a place to hook-up with prepagos, the owner is a contributing member of a whoremonger website, etc, etc. The owner is called Ausie Greg or something like that.

Here is a you tube video I found with a minimal amount of research (30 seconds). It shows a smattering of the women (prepagos) who have frequented the mansion. Very lovely, sensitive song in the background too.

I edited out the video link. A member here pointed out that the video could actually be a promotion of the said brothel. My intention was quite the opposite, but that is why I took out the video.

Thanks for the info, too bad the rooms looked pretty nice with decent prices. Figured something was up when I clicked on the picture of one of the rooms and it showed the bath with 3 lovely ladies in it.

Actually have seen the above video on Youtube when I was searching for info on Medellin. Watched about the first 30 seconds, just figured it was some guy trying to show off the beauties of Colombia, did not realize they were his inventory.

La Casa Medellin looks nice, however I travel all the time for work and I am more comfortable in larger hotel setting.

Any opinions on Sheraton vs. the Affinity?

In Colombia isn't "hotel" synomous with cat house versed "motel". Or did I get it backwards again?

Let's go down 'cross the tracks
Where a pussy ain't no feline
Rev up my Chevy
I'm gonna pay to play
With a lickety-split, I like that taste
I push ahead and I fall behind
And such a good, good time
We just wanna stay

Just got back from the best cathouse in town
And had the best piece of Mona Lisa I ever found
Now I'm goin back to the best cathouse in town
To get some more of that cheap little tramp right 'bout now

Let's go to the house
Where business is a pleasure
Perversion is an aversion
That don't go away
I'm a hard, hard act to swallow
And she's my buried treasure
It'll be a long, long time
Before I'm on my way

Just got back from the best cathouse in town
And had the best piece of Mona Lisa I ever found
Now I'm goin back to the best cathouse in town
To get some more of that cheap little tramp right 'bout now

I won't get a movin
Gas up my Chevy, headed down the way
Sayin just get, get me back, get me back, I say

Duh.....? What is the difference in staying in a whore house and bringing whores to your house? With the former it may be a little cheaper and for the guys that speak no Spanish a lot easier...the house is a service like any other.......wow! never realized there were so many saints on PBH.......LOL

Hotel Park 10 is great, I stayed there, only thing is, it's pricey. Great location, very nice hotel, probably the nicest I have seen in Colombia actually.

SamGompers says on Nov 23, 2007, 07:17:

The Medellin Mansion is a pretty infamous sex tourist joint run by an Australian in exile. Unless you're heading to Medellin to engage in sex tourism, definitely not a place to stay.

There is a brand new Holiday Inn Express right on Poblado avenue in Poblado. There are nice restaurants and even a casino on the ground floor. There is also a cafe out front.

I don't think it's something that should be promoted on PBH. We have women who are PBH members, we should keep that in mind. Also, there are sites dedicated for such activivites, this is not one of them.

My Paisa friend in Chicago owns La Habana Vieja Hotel in Medellin, off Poblado Avenieda.

This is where I've stayed on my last trip to Medellin.

La Habana Vieja Hotel - (El Poblado-La Aguacatala)

The Hotel has 21 rooms. It is located in the neighborhood La Aguacatala in El Poblado, close to everything; shopping malls, health club, restaurants and night life in Medellin.

Check in: 4:00 p.m. Check out: 3:00 p.m., Average room rate are between $55 and $85 US Dollars.

I stayed at the Habana Vieja hotel when it was only $30 a night. A little too quiet for me.

cdy says on Nov 23, 2007, 10:25:

Thanks for the pic of La Habana Vieja Hotel, left them a message on their site,
Do you have any more pictures? How big are the rooms?

HOTEL CONQUISTADORES - $10/night on their website, holy crap! Costs me twice that much just to park my car at the hotel in Miami, I think I will pass.

I will admit to being a wimp when it comes to hotels, roughing it generally means having to stay at a Hilton when the Marriott is full, company pays for it so I tend to travel well.
This will be my first time in Medellin, so a little conservative about where I stay.
My first trip to Bogota stayed a smaller hotel in Zona Rosa, not bad but small rooms and wood floors which made for noisy nights, checked out after one night and headed over to the Embassy Suites. Just trying to avoid the same in Medellin.

morphus says on Nov 23, 2007, 10:50:

Not too civilized. One guy on the worldsexarchives gave the Medellin Mansion a bad review and he received death threats. They said next time he goes to Medellin, he's going home in a body bag...LOL.

Aussy Greg proudly brags he can't speak any Spanish. How would he seek and find and negotiate for a sicario hit? It's all hot air. I do not wish anybody dead, or even care how somebody makes a living. If Medellin Mansion does well, that's great. But if I were in Aussy Greg's shoes, I would have trouble sleeping at night and would always be looking over my shoulder. I wouldn't give him a long life expectancy, living the lifestyle he does publicly in Medellin.

Medellin Traveler says on Nov 23, 2007, 14:20:

cdy,

From reading your comments, I think HOtel Habana Vieja is NOT for you.

Like Morphus mentioned, it's too quiet. There were days where I was the only guest in the hotel. If you don't speak Espanol, then you'll definetely not enjoy your stay there.

The rooms are very small. They definitely need new beds, new towels, new bedsheet, new blankets.

It wouldn't be too bad if they still charged $30. But for the $55 - $85 they charge now, it is way too much for the type of rooms they have available.

Hey CDY ... I live here in Bogota and spend time in the Zona G ( Much better for me than Rosa ) and have walked past the Embassy many times.. Never taken the time to walk in and look around . Whats it like & what where the prices like .. Always have friends coming down , and they all have price points when looking for hotels. ????? Thanks Gary

cdy says on Nov 24, 2007, 06:11:

Waterdawg,
The Embassy Suites in Bogata was very nice, actually better than here in the States, the service was better. Free breakfast, free drinks at 5:30pm , smaller than US properties.
I believe I paid about $150/night about on par for the chain anywhere.

Funny thing though, when I asked to the Taxi driver to take me to the Embassy Suites he first took me to the Swiss Embassy, luckily they were only a few blocks from each other.

.. Thats to funny !

Thats about on par with their property's in the States .. Use to try and catch a week end special form time to time , like $89-$99 a night ! Have to keep that in mind for my " High roller " friends when they come down . lol .. I really like the area. They just opened a new ( smaller ) BBC on 72 and 5.. The manager and staff are really Gringo friendly , nice folks ! Bombay is 10,000 and they really , really , really give you a pour , like a double !

I visited Habana Vieja en Mayo and thought it was clean, safe, very nice staff and convenient plus great value ($45-$50/night). Only drawback for me was the traffic noise heading out of Poblado. I believe it is right next to a fairly busy camino but could ask for a room away from it too.

Nice place!

get down, get down
