good I have no use for bullfighting. Just heard a story on NPR where bullfighting in Spain is in trouble as interest has gone way down

Tinto (Moderator) says on Feb 14, 2007, 14:05:

Maybe countries should get rid of bullfighting and replace it with a tomato-throwing festival like they have in Spain. That sounds like fun!

oldbongo says on Feb 14, 2007, 14:09:

where else would we..... ? be able to see such great concerts by juanes, carlos vives, shakira??
perfect visibility, great acoustics, super-sensual.
compare with concrete stadiums.....feh!!

gorgonabob says on Feb 14, 2007, 14:56:

the problem with bullfighting is that the bull never has a chance.. i think people would love to watch it if for example the matador died once every month or so... i mean for every 10 bulls that are killed one of the matadors should be killed. that would be entertainment. i think you would be able to charge more also..

coffee beaner says on Feb 14, 2007, 20:56:

dont they give the meat of the bulls to poor children???? and make sancocho de guevas with the balls?

PBR Time they should consider changing the custom to bull riding.

Tejas you got my vote... They survive in the PBR and kick the shit out of some "cowboys"! That, of course, is the best part of it. It's like watching the wrecks in Nascar!

yep; a lil Organic Cafe Yuluka..los caballeros will be fine. I couldn't help but notice that add, above:

Café Yuluka comes from one of the world’s most breathtakingly beautiful and biologically diverse corners. Reaching heights of almost 19,000 feet, Colombia’s Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is the planet’s tallest coastal mountain range.

Sacred to the Arhuaco Indians, the Sierra Nevada is believed to be the Heart of the World and, consequently, the mountain’s health is seen as crucial to the survival of the entire planet.

Carefully cultivated high on the slopes of the Sierra under the watchful eyes of the Arhuaco Indians, Café Yuluka is the product of sustainable, earth-friendly growing methods that work in harmony with the land and its people.

Hey southern151,... there's somehow an answer to many problems here, but I need help:
If we merge the 'cockfights' (also prevalent in Colombia, is it not?) together with the 'bullfights',...

A sad tale... A big Texan stopped at a local restaurant following a day roaming around in Mexico. While sipping his tequila, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, the smell was wonderful.

He asked the waiter, "What's that you just served at the next table?"

The waiter replied, "Ah, señor, you have excellent taste! Those are
called Cojones de Toro - bull's testicles - from the bullfight this
morning. A delicacy!"

The cowboy said, "What the heck, Bring me an order!"

The waiter replied, "I am so sorry, señor. There is only one serving
per day because there is only one bull fight each morning. If you come early and place your order, we will be sure to save you this
delicacy."

The next morning, the cowboy returned, placed his order, and that
evening was served the one and only special delicacy of the day. After a few bites, inspecting his platter, he called to the waiter and said, "These are delicious, but they are much, much smaller than the ones I saw you serve yesterday."

The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied, "Si, señor. Sometimes
the bull wins."

Killing the Bull Appears to defy Economic Reality Also Not only is it a Barbaric Custom(in which the Bull is un-armed-why not take the Lance away from the Bull fighter and level the playing field??) still observed in the year 2007, it is also a Bad ecomomic move as when a Great Bull is killed, there go any chances for Stud Fees which for a prize winning Bull could generate Millions. Never could understand this concept of killing the Bull, its like killing your Star Quaterback,,Why not let a Great Animal live to see tomorrow and another fight?

We have the same problem with the Cubans In West Miami with their Illegal Cock-Fights though its becoming less of a probelm as the old guajiros/jibaros die off. Some nights as many as 200-300 were arrested and the Chickens confiscated. Seems their Kids don't enjoy the sport and look down on it,,,,

"Wait a minute. What did you just say? You're predicting $4-a-gallon gas? ... That's interesting. I hadn't heard that." -- Feb. 28, 2008 --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C.,

Bull Fighting I don't know how true it is but I was told once that some of the bulls are drugged. Given the statements above it would seem that the stakes (no pun intended) are really against the bull. A few weeks ago I went to a bar in Medellin. Outside of the bar they had bull fighting. The bull fight was broad casted to a large screen in the bar. I found it strange that the bull they were killing was quite small and it's ribs seemed to be showing. Seems kind of cowardly to me that these so called Matadors are looked up to by allot of people. I will admit that some of the bulls are large and present well but I still think this bloodsport is gruesome and cowardly. I agree that one Matador should die for say 10 or 20 bulls. And, I see no entertainment in knowing the outcome all the time. Strange custom indeed lol. Now bull riding that's another story! I'd like to see some of these prissy Matadors mount a loco bull for 30 seconds lol.

Cruel and Unusual Treatment I have no use for bullfighting. Just heard a story on NPR where bullfighting in Spain is in trouble as interest has gone way down

There is something wrong with a Country that lets an animal keep its balls and then torments it. Hummm, sounds like they may have some kind of physiological, or maybe thats a Genealogical or maybe gynecology problem ??

If I was the bull I’d tell em’ to:

take my balls and put them where the sun don’t shine,, ooops, some might like that idea.

OK

Take my balls and shove it. Nope,, that doesn’t sound right, well,, balls.

Humm, just noticed this thread or maybe it was two threads ?
