I don't know how many or if any of you read the March 2005 edition of the National Geographic, but the point is that it had an article about Medellin concerning MOSTLY its poverty and violence, (everything mostly backed up by the late Pablo Escobar and his doings) and no major coverage of the government's effort to win the struggle against these issues e.t.c. A lot of the people who read it, including myself and the Mayor of Medellin wrote back to the National Geographic complaining about the artcle. If any of you would like to find out more about this, visit:

utopiacowboy says on Apr 18, 2005, 16:53: I thought we beat this horse to death a few months ago. Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. |

babygirl says on Apr 18, 2005, 18:11: We did UC, I finally read the article though, I really didn't find it all that bad, it seemed to show a bit of both worlds, but then I've never been to Medellin so of course it could all be just lies. cheers - babygirl |

crispeta says on Apr 19, 2005, 09:08: Again! I posted the fist comments about the feature in N&G, and I thought it was about the way Medellin was and the way Medellin has been changing, also I had a long discussion with my wife , who is from Medellin, about the artical. Many negative comments were posted about N&G being gringo prapagada , which is rubish or basura. One thing I thought that should have been added to the feature was the Christmas lights over Rio Medellin because the author was in Medellin for the first part of December.
