Medellin Apartment Hunting Between Christmas and New Years

My Question is why are the rates so expensive being posted on this site???

I visited about 8 apartments with an agency in El Poblado,San Diego,San Julian, and the Nice Section of Belen..Which all were in Estrata 5-6 and only have to prepay 3 months. One Agency told me there desparate to fill apartments and does everybody see how much construction is going on in El Poblado and the traffic..I don't think I want to be in El Poblado right now Belen was really nice and was offered a rate of 650,000 for three bedroom in Estrata 5 and if you go to the balcony across the street is Estrata 6. San Julian 3 bedroom with a maids room for 750,000 which I thought was good. The 650,000 was a direct deal not through an agency. Centro Boston Area which think is 3 or 4 they have new buildings going for 400,000 to 500,000.. There is a street there with brand new buildings..

Rates are 600,000-1,000,000 per month plus utilties with 6 month leases Estrata 5 or 6..You know the best experience was doing this on my own and going thru the El Colombiano.

Wanted to post my experience looking for apartments in Medellin and was not able to get over to Envigado or Sabineta.

Also had a great time in Medellin for Christmas and New Years..

Panthdave

dave... it is because the people who post their apartments (multiple times under different screen names) on this site are looking to scam the foreigners who don't have command of the language and are looking to arrange something before they get down there because they are afraid. so you are paying the premium for their english and computer abilities.

do you have the contact info for EL Colombiano? i will be down their in a week, so maybe we can get a beer. cheers!

arfgoblue, El Colombiano is a newspaper. Search google and you'll find the website, where you can browse real estate.
Dave, offers posted on this site are usually short time. You were offered long time rent. Agencies are always "desperate", you can bet!

what we do in life... echoes in eternity.

"I am a citizen of the most beautiful nation on earth. A nation whose laws are harsh yet simple, a nation that never cheats, which is immense and without borders, where life is lived in the present."
