Meaning of street numbering (Medellin)

Hi all,

Within two weeks i intend to go to Col./Medellin in order to visit several addresses.
An address is for example mentioned in next way:
Cra 54#18-31 and Cra 54#49-31.
I understand that this refers to Carrera 54, but i don't understand the rest (as the number of the building ?).
Furthermore i consulted a (internet)map of Medellin and found out that in the nortnern part of town there is a cra 54 but also in the center which seemed not the same street. My question, may there be more streets called cra 54 ?
Can someone explain this to me ?

Corne,
The second set of numbers is the distance from the cross-street (in meters).
So, Carrerra 54#18-31 is On Cra. 54, 31 metres from Calle 18 (going towards Calle 19).

Hope it helps,
Patrick

Ok, at first seems confusing but it´s much easier.
Calles run east-west
Carreras run south north
So, when you see an address first you notice if it´s Carrera (Cra.) or Calle (Cl.) then the first number is the intersecting Carrera or Calle and the second number is the distance from the corner.
In El Polblado, right at the Blockbuster (or a couple of blocks before) store, the numbers start again with an added "S", that means "south". SO, Carrera 10S is different from Carrera 10.

Thank you for your answer. On a Medellin (interactive) map i could find immediately the wanted spot.
Even the Colombia Ambassy in the Netherlands could not give a clarification.
