Mc Cain in COL

El Tiempo is announcing that Mc Cain will come to Colombia to meet with Uribe soon.

I don`t recall a US presidential candidate coming to COL.

For hi political gain or whateer, I think puts COL in the spot, especially for the TLC, anti-drung war, and to send a message to the wacko next door.

I haven't read it yet because I'm kind of busy at work but I've heard that McCain really wants to have the TLC with Colombia approved which is good news. He gets a lot of points from me based on this since Obama is against it.

I have a feeling that after the elections Obama and the democrats will approve the FTA.. Remember that most people in the states are afraid that more jobs will go south.. In an election year people don't want to hear about the FTA.. Wait until next year, and with Canada going for a FTA this year with Colombia the U.S. will hop on board.. It's just difficult for people to realize that some people (including myself) will be hiring more employees for exporting our product to Colombia..

Careful of what you wish for with McCain. McCain will support Bush Policies on Iraq, saying he will stay in that country for 100 years if need be. This breaking news was in the Miami Paper this morning our future Policy for Iraq is simply insane. And don't forget, McCAIN in the event he wins, will work with a Congress not of his choosing. The playing field will be much different then what Bush had when he came into office in 2000. He won't have a Congress that Rubberstamps his every whim and desire,,,and that includes Plan Colombia Congressional Approval

"""""U.S. demands permanent bases in Iraq"""""
Plans for 58 U.S. bases to be permanent in Iraq, along with control of some air space, were called unacceptable.

BAGHDAD -- Iraqi lawmakers say the United States is demanding 58 bases as part of a proposed ''status of forces'' agreement that will allow U.S. troops to remain in the country indefinitely.

Leading members of the two ruling Shiite parties said in a series of interviews that the Iraqi government rejected this proposal along with another U.S. demand that would effectively hand over the power to determine if a hostile act from another country is aggression against Iraq. Lawmakers said they fear this power would drag Iraq into a war between the United States and Iran.

''The points that were put forth by the Americans were more abominable than the occupation,'' said Jalal al Din al Saghir, a leading lawmaker from the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq. ''We were occupied by order of the Security Council,'' he said, referring to the 2004 resolution mandating a U.S. military occupation in Iraq at the head of an international coalition. ``But now we are being asked to sign for our own occupation. That is why we have absolutely refused all that we have seen so far.''

Other conditions sought by the United States include control over Iraqi air space up to 30,000 feet and immunity from prosecution for U.S. troops and private military contractors. The agreement would run indefinitely,,,

McCain goes to Isreal... McCain wants trip to Iraq with Obama....McCain plans meeting in Colombia with Uribe.

He's like a scared boxer dodging a matchup with a younger, stronger more skilled boxer. He'll talk tough from outside the ring, will say he want to fight and wants a matchup "anytime, anyplace",;but will do anything to avoid an actual toe to toe matchup. But this isn't a Don King promoted fight, nor is McCain a political Rocky Balboa.

This election will be won or lost in the good ole' USA, not on 'the road'. Problems in the economy, at the pump, at the supermarket, in the job market and the disaster of the housing market are what Americans want to hear solutions to from candidates. Not free trade agreements and regional conflicts that have been going on for decades.

This guy knows he's most likely not going to win; he can't out fund-raise Obama, he can't out talk Obama, he' s not as appealing, he's not as smart, he's not as focused as Obama. So his strategy is to stay 'outside the ring' as long as possible.

But his beatdown is coming. He can't avoid standing toe to toe with Obama forever. He's got to debate and not from Isreal, not from Colombia, but in town halls across the country.

The Republicans have served this guy up as cannon-fodder as he knows it.

If you think the Dem's aka liberal left wing scumbags in Washington DC will support the Colombia Free Trade Agreement you are out of your f___king mind! The libs are in the wallet pocket of the not so big anymore unions. Which in turn is pretty much organized crime! They scream about jobs moving overseas, when in fact the corporations in the USA are the second most taxed out there behind Japan. The unions here are screaming about human rights issues in Colombia. They seemed to have forgotten that this country was pretty violent as well in the early 20th century when the unions were trying to organize. The unionists murdered the Governor of Idaho over the mining riots! If we would have the opportunity to drill for our own oil and natural gas, which there is plenty of in the USA, we could pull out of Iraq and let Iraq settle their own dispute. We removed Sadam, we did our part. In short John McCain or Barak Yo Mama are not the answer for a strong USA. Two peas from a rotten pod! But at least McCain wouldn't kiss Hugo Chavez's feet. Obama would hug him as his favorite Venezuelan socialist idol!

McCain may come to regret that Challenge! If McCain was smart, due to his poor oratory kills, he should keep his Debates with Obama to a Minimum, even some of McCain's Handlers have said that! As far as Plan Colombia, it won't matter who is elected because on that one, Congress will call the Shots!

Just to clarify as to which Prez and Party signed Plan Colombia into effect, check the below link. Clinton signed it(PC) into Law but there was plenty of oppostion to Plan Colombia also from those in the Republican controlled Congress. Some of the comments here simply ignores the US Congressional Record and the Facts.

Its one thing to issue a public challenge for meetings and then set pre-conditions that you know no opponent would agree to. But he'll be forced to the debates on nuetral terms soon enough.

You want to have some real fun? Wait until you get a real good, up close and personal look at McCain trying to field tough questions while trying to keep from blowing his lid all at the same time.

Someone mentioned traveling to see McCain in Colombia. Its all good, but as far as McCain coming to Colombia, its not such a history making event just because he's a candidate running for president. Colombia has been visited by two U.S. presidents in just the last 12 years, both Bush and Clinton, that's more impactful historically.

What nonsense and ignorance. President Clinton (a "liberal left-wing scumbag") passed NAFTA despite the fact that there was no popular support for the agreement. Again, I love your avatar.

Obama being against the current proposal for an FTA w/ Colombia does not mean that he is against having one with the country (AS HE HAS STATED OVER AND OVER AGAIN). This "liberal left wing scumbag" supported the FTA with Peru.

Hoy se nota en la floresta un ambiente de alegría. ¡Y el rumor de ranchería es mas dulce y sabe a fiesta!

In a nut shell, all US citizens are fu_ _ 'ed, just look at BHO's statements in the past and how he has flipped many times...When does he plan to repeal Bushes tax plan? What will be the new double Capital gains tax he will place into effect? How much of the double increase he desires for global assistance? How he plans to fund this? What is the major increase he desires for FICA? How much involvement he recommends for the UN/USA in mutual cooperation? What is his plans for a healthy military? What about the possible repeal of expat taxes? Foreign Policy, he has side stepped and changed is tunes more than once, the list can go on guys...he has a gift of gabbin, but the US is in trouble in many ways....I am thankful I hold double passports and have spread out my nest eggs. BillyB--you may want peruse this Article on McCain and his Lobbyist Buddies. He shouldn't be the Pot who calls the Kettle black! Not by a long shot!

"Washington lobbyists and members of Congress gathered at a popular Capitol Hill bar and restaurant last night to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for GOP presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, whose staff refused to disclose exactly how much was raised or by whom.

""""Like most campaigns, we do not release numbers of attendees or dollars raised per event," said McCain spokesperson B.J. Boling.

While McCain did not attend the event, a copy of the invitation obtained by ABCNews.com shows that donors who paid between $1,000 and $2,300 were invited to rub elbows with some of the 32 members of Congress supporting McCain for a reception at the Charlie Palmer Steakhouse. Donors who raised at least $10,000 were designated co-chairmen for the event and were treated to a "VIP Roundtable" before the main reception. The invitation lists 24 lobbyists as "co-chairman" for the event. The lobbyists represent a range of industries, including the finance, telecommunications, technology and healthcare sectors.

McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates, according to the latest finding from government watchdog group Public Citizen. """
