ROTFLMAO

Seriously-six of one-half a dozen of the other.

Your novia might appreciate the Colombian wedding but you save no real time on obtaining the proper visa. Good luck.

Getting married in Colombia will likely be a lot cheaper, but it can involve a lot of paperwork hassles. You will probably need at least a month or two to get your paperwork in order. If you use the Google search at the top of this page, you will find several topics on the requirements for getting married in Colombia. There is always the option of getting married on San Andres Island. You can also find posts relating to that.

Tell her to come here to the USA on a K1 visa first, have a small ceremony/wedding and then go back to Colombia for a bigger wedding with her parents/etc.

Hey Vic-You can save even more MONEY by not getting married anywhere! LOL

When I got married(1990) in St Pete's Fla to my Mexicana Loca, after the Church Wedding, We just went to a nice Waterfront Restaurant(didn't even reserve a table) at a time on Saturday we knew there would not be many people so we got free use of the Largest Waterview dining room. Paid for our Meals(I paid) which with Tips, come to around $300 Total. The Mariachi Band who played in the Catholic Church also played in the Restuarant--cost was around $250 for the entire time. This was a do it yourself project and we saved a Ton of $$$. Good thing to because 15 months later when we divorced, I needed the $$$ for my Divorce Lawyer, as did my Ex-wife. Saved our Wedding $$ for a Divorce! LOL

mike I agree with you...and if I could live with a woman that would be my choice......but getting married made it much more easier to live in Colombia although I know we could have lived here without being married...... but if your going to spring for a family wedding do it here you will save a bundle.....I did 5 years ago and still think you can save a bunch of money by marrying in Colombia

I am getting married in October and found a farm house outside of Bucaramanga and EVERYTHING is included, food, tables, coverings for chairs/tables, flowers (roses), tuxedo, three houses and one chalet, car, alcohol, cake, someone comes and does my makeup and hair... It is only costing $1,500 USD and this is for three days and for 25 people. I saw the place and it is beautiful with a pool, sauna, jacuzzi, outdoor fire pit, spiral staircase in the chalet (honeymooners stay here). The only thing that stinks IS the paperwork involved, everything has to be translated and inventoried (property ownership here in USA and kids information) and Apostilled ($20 USD per page to have done). But Colombia is so beautiful, I am glad I am getting married there; it is so exotic and different. You will always remember it. Good luck!
