My wife (colombian) and I (us) were going to marry in Uruguay, where we were living. The US consulate there said that she would have to go back to colombia to do the residency paperwork, since they had no idea who she ws in uruguay,not being a citizen. I don´t know about canada, check with the canadian embassy in DR.

validate your marriage Colombians can be married in any contry But you have to validate it.
i know two canadians can marry in colombia but the marriage is not valid in canada, it becomes valid when you go to the canadian embassy of the contry you marry in and validate your marriage.
same thing happen with colombians getting marry in foreing lands.
so if you marry in rd you better find out from the department of foreing affairs if you have to validate your marriage or you can contact

now if you (canadian) and her(colombian) marry in colombia, then you don't have to validate it, it will become valid when she apply for her landing status from colombia.
