married in san andres ,how to get cedula?

Hi all,
Just got married in San Andres with only a passport, was very easy.My question is this, I plan to stay in Colombia and would like to get my cedula. I read a post here on this site that someone else got married in San Andres and then they went to Bogota and received a cedula in one day.Now they did`nt say if they had any other paperwork with them, I bielieve that post was this past Febuary. Does anyone have info. on this.
I am an american citizen, with only my passport with me. Being that I am now married ,if I walk into DAS I`ll get a cedula with just proof of marraige and my passport?...sounds way too easy.
any info. would be appreciated -thanks

I hear it's easy to get the spousal visa... You are going to need a certified copy of your marriage certificate from the notory. I wouldn't leave the island without it and then go to the interior ministry in Bogota with your wife to apply for your visa. After you get the visa I think you have two weeks to a apply for your cedula at DAS.

The Only.... notary that will be able to certify the marriage license will be the one in San Andres. your cedula will take five or six months, maybe more (make that a lot more), to arrive. You will receive a temporary cedula called a contaseña. But if I remember correctly as it was some years ago the temp. cedula will have to be renewed about once a year.

I personally would no plans on just popping into a bank and opening and account. Also make sure you call MRE and DAS BEFORE going and making SURE you have all the paperwork. DAS can be frustrating and may take all day. If your Spanish is not good take someone along to help out.

Two (2) passport copies, including the information pages as well as all used pages.

Two (2) original (not photo copies) Visa Application Forms forms signed and completely filled out in duplicate.

This certificate must be translated into Spanish if originally issued in a language other than Spanish. Both versions (English & Spanish) must be notarized and certified with an APOSTILLE from the secretary of state of the State where it was issued. If issued in Colombia, a Colombian Public Notary must notarize it.

ORIGINAL of the certified (notarized) copy of the Colombian national ID Card (Cédula de Ciudadanía).

Original of the Letter from the Colombian citizen (spouse), requesting the visa. This letter must be translated into Spanish if originally issued in a language other than Spanish. DG Is Correct. Your FIRST stop needs to be MRE to get the visa. It may NOT be a simple as you think.
