I got my marriage visa and my cedula with plans to look for a job afterwards. There is a university that wants to hire me but they say they can't legally officially offer me the job until my visa is changed. Under profession, it currently says hogar.
In order to change it to a work visa, I need to be offered employment. IT seems like a catch 22. How do I make this work?

adrienne79 says on Jul 20, 2009, 19:29: You have to find a place willing to give you the paperwork to change the visa. I did the change almost two years ago. If that university won't do it, keep looking and you will find somewhere that will do it for you. Or better yet, maybe you just have to hold their hand through the process and let them know what you need from them to make the change. That is what I had to do.

I've been having this problem with one of the private high schools here in Cali. They are completely ignorant of how to do this change. I've had to bring them the paperwork and walk them through the process since they are ignorant of what to do. They are used to getting foreigners from outside the country for work which is a different process.

I booked a flight to Bogota next week because of a great sale but I can cancel it. Otherwise, I can look for work there. Beam me up Scotty; No intelligent life here. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

When I have a contract, I have a month to bring it to them, a couple of months later I get some forms to fill out then I have to take them to MRE in Bogota. I can work right away. I don't have to wait for the paperwork to get done first. Beam me up Scotty; No intelligent life here. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
