I sold memberships to a marriage agency before. I had a mirror website of the agency with all my contact info instead of theirs and just paid the agency fee and kept the difference.

You get calls from a lot of complete idiots. The guys won't or can't read the website and will call you up expecting you to give them a sells pitch and talk to them for hours explaining everything.

I'd just tell them to read the website and call me back if they can form a logical question. hehehe !!!

The ideal situation is for american guys to sell the agency services to other americans while letting the colombianos handle selling the idea of joining a marriage agency to the colombian women.

I think the time has come and gone for these Agencies, especially in the internet age. Too much free competition. Even large agencies such as TLC in Houston Texas are struggling and they are amongst the ones with the deepest pockets. We have a few in Miami but they cater locally mostly to Cubans and Latindestinc.com, which is in Orlando and has a lot of Colombian Females, owned and operated by a Colombiana and her American Husband.

seems most want a guy very similar in age. read and believe colombian agency marketing material and the sky's the limit even for gringos in their 60's and 70's. haha maybe an eye opener about the motivations of many of these prospective "brides." lol just a guess here but if colombia internal security continues to improve and economic conditions likewise continue to improve there will be fewer and fewer women wanting to uproot and head for "greener" pastures.

I think the new IMBRA laws have put a big dent in this whole business. I am really glad to see this kind of stuff going away over time. The internet was the second nail in the coffin for this stuff completely bypassing the middle man. agencies are fine, C......but dont let them make your decision for ya....there are decent girls in Colombia who have real good hearts and imho would make much better spouses than westerners....BUT.....do your homework, get to know them and their family, and dont assume everything is hunky dory.....you wound instantly marry an american girl right off the bat would you? spend ALOT of time with them and be critical but not paranoid....there is risk on both sides, and there are land mines along the path for both people......

christobeldawg I am going to give you my personal viewpoint and only that. I am not judging anyone that uses a agency. But I think you have some questions and I am going to give you my opinion....for what its worth. That 50's thing and all that is just absolute BS. Colombian girls are just like any other...and come in all flavors. I have been going there for a long time and have a lot of friends. I know more 20 and 30 something girls in Colombia that can't cook, don't do laundry, iron or clean the house that I do in the US. And some of them have no interest in doing so. The ones that are better off want a maid. But the girls that come from slightly less money tend to end out helping more with their family so may be more like the 50;s. Granted there are many girls that may be like th image but its not a generalization that is correct. Also I guess the concept is that from a agency is that a Colombian girl will be interested happy with less. depends upon who. I have met plenty of very materialistic girls in Colombia. Don't get me wrong I love Colombian girls and Colombia in general. But the reason has more do do with deep friendships, experiences, and loving other cultures and learning the language. Hope this helps ...just be careful and move VERY Slowly.

christo..my opinion, is that most of the ones with children are more responsible than one with out children......being single and with kids in Colombia severely limits their options, and normally they are the girlfriend #2-6 for the married guys...but i would not rule out one with child(ren), as that is a personal choice......lots of hot single mothers there too, ya know.....

Christo..funny you should mention Philippines. I lived there 4 years my ex was filipino..we were married 13 we met through friends while I lived there. In that time most of our friends were other mixed couples. We always knew in a matter of minutes who met in a agency...most of those new marriages failed. Not all but most. The agencies would have you believe the same stuff there..age doesn't matter, how wonderfully domestic filipinas are etc. Total garbage from knowing more filipinos then colombianas. I also would say I know way more filipina girls screwing aroun huubys back than american women. They have the same flaws as anyone just like Colombians. If you get a good one that loves ya your golden but that applies to anywhere.

The biggest issue is take your time. If that hot chica tells you on day 3 she loves you in spasnih or english..RUN don't walk. If a american chic told you she loved you before knowing you 3 or 4 months wouldn't you think she is crazy? no different in Colombia.

one last thing..I had a friend here that went to one of those places. he Did not end up marrying but he used their translation services. Since I speak spanish I listened in on a call for him once and read some translated emails. They were not translating correctly both directlions and were I guess you could say embelishing to move things along If you need a translator would say get one form outside...I dont think he went to the place you are going so I can't say anything about that place. My personal opinion is if the girl you ar with does not speak english and you dont speak spanish you cant possibly have a real realtionship but that is just me
