I didn't catch the whole broadcast but does anyone know anything? is it both directions? can i get through or will i be delayed or will i spend 4 days on a bus seat? Tried the bus station but i can't get thru - hence the post... cheers peeps!

I just got back from Manizales but it was going towards Medellin. There were all kinds of spots where half the road had been washed away due to the landslides but it usually just causes a delay.

You should wait until Jan 4th and go to the big festival out there if you can.

Due to heavy rain, there have been landslides... for the road between Bogotá and Manizales (around Calarcá) the newspaper El Tiempo says it's a "cierre total". Other roads are also partially closed due to rubble, however there are other ways to get to Manizales (albeit that those will take longer): www.eltiempo.com/nacion/vias

I saw on the news last night that about 23 vehicles were buried in it. Calarcá? I didn't think the road went by that way, don't they go through Pereira? We are travelling Medellin-Armenia on the midnightish bus and am a bit concerned. We delayed coming here last week because that road was also wiped out, but not as bad.

just gave the article a glance, but no it isn't near Calarcá, you may have gotten it confused with another story 2 or 3 days ago when 2 kids drowned in the river there. The vehicle plunged into the engorged river and well... Also Genova has major problems, I might try to pitch in there.
