¡Gee! All twenty of them. I thought I saw the gray-haired lady twenty-five years ago cutting sugar cane in Cuba.

"Brevior Sltare Cum Deformibus Mulieribus Est Vita!" .

Simon says on Jul 23, 2007, 07:52:

Muchos cabrones!!

Did you guys see the idiot with the "Uribe, you killed my Afro-Colombian brotheres and sisters" sign? Give me a break!

I even wonder if most of these people can locate Colombia on a world map!

HERE'S SIMON!!!!

Hell no! I am pretty sure who ever put this protest together was un colombianovoltiao.

Annette Taddeo for US Congress 2008

juancegomez says on Jul 23, 2007, 13:34:

I think calling them "cabrones" is entirely unwarranted.

Some of them, the Colombians I suppose, have understandable reasons for being angry as they're either victims of violence or relatives/friends of some who are. All of them, including the U.S. Americans, definitely have the right to protest.

But I also have the right to think that some (not all) of their slogans and signs are either wrong, misleading or frankly pathetic, and that they may be misdirecting their anger by painting Uribe as the actual or even the only cause of their problems or the things they are protesting against.

Simon says on Jul 23, 2007, 13:40:

Unwarranted?

They're labeling the wrong party as 'terrorist'! Why don't they protest the real terrorists, the FARC, ELN, or paramilitaries?

They're not only 'cabrones', they're also a bunch of ignorant sons of bitches!!

HERE'S SIMON!!!!

"I would rather die living life, than to live a dying life."........ Oh, and my PM is always ON. Great Bumper Sticker: "Home of the Free, Because of the Brave"

Vup,

The FARC have been terrorizing Colombia since the early sixties, so they have a long advantage over the those fokin paras in terms of terrorizing Colombia and "shedding blood". And if there were never any FARC in the first place, there never would have been any paras. the paras were created by wealthy landowners to protect their lands from the guerrillas, they were not created by any one individual as many of you anti-Uribistas want to make everyone think. Uribe just supported the creation of the CONVIVIR. Many of these became paramilitaries, true, but why the hell should Uribe be blamed by the paras atrocities?

BTW, how come we rarely see you anti-Uribistas criticize the FARC, hmmmmm?

Not much of a protest and some of the signs were silly, but I'm glad they were there to greet Uribe.

juancegomez says on Jul 23, 2007, 14:21:

Simon: Mira, yo creo no hay que insultar a la gente así uno opine que no tienen idea de tal o cual detalle, tema, cosa o lo que sea.

Cada quien tiene derecho a ser mínimamente respetado y escuchado, así uno no comparta lo que digan. Eso no va sólo para estos señores, lo digo en general.

VUP: "Who shed the most innocent blood in Colombia"
Nobody has really tried to count this as such (there are other counts, with their pluses and minuses, but they're mostly of different things, not of "innocent blood"), but one would tend to presume that the paramilitaries have killed the most innocent people.

",and who created the powerful Paramiltarys"
A lot of different people over a rather wide period of time.

",and who gave them a soft max 8 year prison term, and "
Uribe, indeed.

"who used Plan Colombia dollars to pay the Paramiltary dogs to hand in their guns....................."
This is a rather questionable accusation, though.

"Maybe they are right to protest against Uribe"
About certain things, yes. About others...not really. They still have the right to protest though (even if they're not always "right"/correct about what they're protesting).

."Coco region has kids starving to death from Uribes cousin embezzling money meant for food and other aid,"
I presume you mean Choco, and as far as I know Uribe's cousin (Senator Mario, I guess) has no jurisdiction over that department.

"also what other Latin American countrys have thousands more displaced everyday""
At moment, none.

"URIBE made the roads safe for the PARAMILTARY to move their drugs free of compition,he never made the roads safe for you or I....."
Highly speculative.

"Also how many crimes get blamed on the rubberboots, that Uribe and his hinchmen are at fault for."
Depends.

"Alls not fare and pretty in Love and war,but put the blame where blame is do."
I'd hope so.

juancegomez says on Jul 23, 2007, 14:26:

"Yes in the earlt 1960's they was fighting for the poor to be allowed in Schools and to get equal treatment at clinicas."
To a certain extent one could argue that, yes.

"Thats why they have lasted since the 1960's"
That's not enough to explain it, I'd say.

"Simon may be locked up and Sonya taken away, but there is 10,000 more to take there place"
That may well be the case.

",and everyday amny more displacios put the word out throw the undreground movement that they are ready to die for the cause",
This assumes that the "desplazados" are automatically pro-FARC (including those that are displaced by FARC, I imagine), which is a huge simplification.

"so Colombia cant stop the Farc"
Not without changes in the tactics and strategies employed, I'd give you that.

",they though can learn to accept and live with them, they accepted other Rebel movements,"
One would hope.

"but refuse outta interest for the elite Palanco to accept a meeting with the FARC on neutral ground"
Even though I'm relatively "pro-despeje" (with conditions *and* intelligence), this isn't exactly an accurate or fair description of that particular controversy.

Juance,
