I was having a heart to heart talk with my father and one of his sentences was “I admire your guts, you love a challenge and you’re a tough cookie with malicia indigena in you! what the hell is “malicia indigena anyway?? I asked him but all he did was laugh
Do you guys know what it is? That’s it mean something? Or is my father just taking the piss?

Desideria (Moderator) says on Feb 5, 2005, 09:32: no, Mrs. Gomez your dad was giving you a compliment. "Malicia indigena" is a floating concept, but generally meant as a positive kind or awareness and smartness that the indigenous peoples of Colombia posess. It's quite misleading as there's not so much malice involved init, just cunningness, pre-meditation and awareness of circumstances. It's supposed to be a trait of personality inbred in the population in Colombia, regardless of your color or ethnicity. Desideria (Moderator) says on Feb 5, 2005, 11:21: lotus, disconnecting the phone is not really "malicia indigena". I think it's just plain, old, normal cattiness. I suspect you've got some Moorish sailing on your coasts there... "I have opinions of my own, strong opinions, but I don't always agree with them."-President George W. Bush |
