Mail forwarding

I may need to pick a new mail forwarding service. My current one lets me use an apt number instead of a P.O. Box number. I need that feature. Open to all responces. Thanks.

Just gave them a loo., One problem for me would be that they don't accept mail from the client to be mailed in the States.

Lowell, you don't have a single friend or family member in the whole U.S. that you can Fed-Ex a packet of envelopes to? If not, PM me and I'll give you my sister's address in California.

You can buy US stamps online and have them sent to USABox if you want, to save your friend the trouble.

USABox has worked out fine for me. Just let them handle only your documents.

If you order something by mail order, and have it sent to USABox, the Colombian taxes you will have to pay to DHL will almost double the price of whatever you bought.

I forgot to mention how to avoid taxes when buying things from U.S. companies by mail order. Contact the woman below, and arrange for her to collect your mail order things from the U.S. until the box reaches the minimum size or weight of $18. She gets your things to you in Colombia in less than a week.

Yes I have friends. No family that I communicate with. However, the longer I'm away from the States the less close I am to my friends. That's natural. Especially when they know I may never return to the States. Also, I've always been a very independent sort of guy that doesn't like to impose himself on others.

Lowell-there are many Mail Forwarders Merchant seaman and RV People use. When I was in the Merchant Marine in the late 70s-80s, they had several that were located in Nevada that Cailf Seaman used to get out of the high Taxes. Nevada then didn't have any state income tax. Here's a link to some of these services, many reliable ones: http://www.google.com/custom?q= mail forwarding services&hl=en&client=pub-9654224688603390&cof=FORID:1;GL:1;LBGC:336699;LC:#0000ff;VLC:#663399;GFNT:#0000ff;GIMP:#0000ff;DIV:#336699;&domains=poorbuthappy.com&oe=ISO-8859-1&start=0&sa=N

Hmm, that link didn't work. Cut and paste the whole thing and put it in your browser and you see many of them!

Have you heard of Earth Class Mail? This service eliminates the whole mail forwarding process by allowing you to view and manage your postal mail online. They scan each envelope and then give me the option to decide whether I want it opened and scanned, shredded, recycled, or archived. I usually save the PDFs to my computer and then have the originals recycled or shredded. They also forward any piece of mail or package that I need an original copy of.

Great service for those of us who travel often. I can check my postal mail any time that I am checking emails and no more paper!

Lowell says on Aug 23, 2007, 15:20:

Earth Class doesn't accept mail that I send to them that needs to be taken to USPS for delivery, same with USABOX. I've found several others that do and one that will scan the contents of my mail if needed.

Yahoo also has a section that I added to my favorites. I don'y reccomend US Global Mail. They screwed up a mailing to Colombia and now 2 important letters (one to IRS and one to my bank) didn't make it. I really doubt that the USPS lost 2 letter in the same batch. Also I may not have received mailings from SSA. I'm investigating that now. If fraud is evident, who can I report it too?
