Madison, WI, Colombian Independence

Awhile back someone asked about this. It is held on July 22 this year. Here is a link for Colombianos in Wisconsin: http://www.colombianosenwisconsin.com/

Tom,

Do you have any info on this year? Web site only pulls up prescription drug site...cheers!

tomtom33 says on May 27, 2008, 17:00:

I just tried the site and got the same thing you did. I will be back in Wisconsin on June 4 for the summer. I will ask my contacts there and post some info.

My guess is that, if there will be a celebration, it will be about the same time frame at the same place: Lakeview Park in Middleton. In the past, some years have been skipped with nothing.

Tom, are there a lot of Colombians in WI?

MitchAlvarez says on May 27, 2008, 23:39:

i was told there are about 4 in total. :)

There were maybe 200 people at the last fest that I attended. Around 60-70% were Colombian. I would guess that there would be many more in Milwaukee.

Chicago has a good-sized Colombian community.

arfgoblue says on May 28, 2008, 06:24:

...but most at Colombia festival are Boriquas/Mejicanos. A Puerto Rican never met a party that he/she did not like :)

tomtom33 says on May 28, 2008, 06:58:

The Mexican population is growing in the Madison area, but I have yet to run into many of them at the festival. There was one Venezuelano, a good friend of mine, there the year before last. I have never met a Puerto Rican in Madison.

Don't want to hate, but that is a good thing :)

A lot of Colombia U W/Madison coeds? =)

tomtom33 says on May 31, 2008, 12:37:

I don't get to speak to many UW coeds. They have no interest in a guy my age. I do spend time on campus, and I will be getting Spanish tutoring there this summer. However, all I can do is look.

Frankly, I didn't do very well with the Colombianas at the fest, either.

Porque yo vivo en Colombia.

arfgoblue says on May 31, 2008, 22:57:

Well, the ones here are estrato 5 or 6, and know they are hot (after leaving Colombia) so I doubt anyone would do well...do you plan to be in Madison are the time of the festival this summer?

tomtom33 says on Jun 1, 2008, 06:09:

I'll be in Madison from June 4 to Sept. 30.

arfgoblue says on Jun 2, 2008, 19:48:

cool maybe we will see each other :)

docwilliam says on Jun 5, 2008, 18:10:

Well tomtom, maybe I will be seeing you in Wisconsin. I will return to Waukesha some time in August. I will be in Kentucky from the 3rd-? and then back to Wisconsin.
