Now I just use a good Colombian agency. They usually turn down foreigners if they do not have properties or are not recommended.

Who's buying them at those shocking prices? Colombians.

Please tell me you are not comparing the prices of The Charlee to the typical apartments being sold in Medellin. If you are you need to stop looking for your so called "bargain" and keep renting for the rest of your life. I'm quite sure you will be satisfied with your pile of rent receipts when it's all said and done.

Had I followed your logic I would have not made investments in Medellin and would not have made over $50,000 USD in less than a year on just one of them. Following your logic I would have never made most of my international investments and would not have accumulated millions of USD in appreciation and rental income.

My experience tells me if you were not so conservative in your approach your investment portfolio would be substantially larger than it is, that is of course assuming you have one.

Curious to know if you paid those giving you advice here on PBH? Remember the old adage, you get what you pay for.

i don't want to imply that 5 people leaving is in any way a trend or some kind of a scientific poll. they may have other problems also.

i do know some elderly americans in bogota, mostly colombians, that have lived here a long time on just a fixed social security check and are struggling on this strong peso.

i mentioned in another thread that my bank and a few car dealerships i talked with would not take my dollars for the purchase of a car at this time. well, one dealer said he would...........actually through an intermediary in Panama City. The rate on xe or onda is not really the rate you get.

this guy in panama wants a 1650 exchange rate plus another 1% of the total deal, so it comes out to about 1540 pesos to the dollar....................that stinks, man.
