Hello all
I had travelled to Colombia this past May and had the time of my life. I plan on returning to Bogota in early November in hopes of staying away from the Canadian winter. My hopes are to teach english, learn spanish and enjoy the culture. A few questions....
1. Is it easy to find work with a University degree with a TESL Certificate or is Colombian Immigration looking for a teaching degree??? My plane ticket is good for 6 months. I suspect going there as a tourist and then trying to get a work permit is the most likely scenario.
2. I am looking for an appartment in North Bogota for a reasonable price. I dont mind sharing with other people. I hear it is not quite as easy as North America. Any leads???
3. What are the reputable schools to teach at? From what I have read, November and December are pretty lean months to teach english. In January things usually pick up. I am currently pursuing options at the Universidad de la Sabana. I have also heard good reports about Berlitz. Are there any schools I should avoid?
Any help appreciated. Check out my website www.truecolombia.com
Cheers D
