This applies to everything in Colombia. If someone says "Tiene hambre?" and you say "un poquito" they serve you a 3 course meal while all you wanted to eat was maybe a muffin with a glass of milk.

If they say "sólo vine a visitar un ratico", they really mean "we came here to stay for 4-5 hours and then leave after we've had dinner".

If they say "tiene afán" and you say "no", they'll take their sweet ol' time with everything. After all, you did say no. LOL!!!

Maybe this is why I'm such a stickler for time... If we're leaving at a certain time and you're not ready... you're not going.... :-)
